The Immaculate Conception is the oldest Catholic
Church and parish in Atlanta. The Sacred Heart
and St. Anthony’s are outgrowths of the Immaculate
Conception which, until the beginning of this cen
tury, comprised the entire limits of the city. Its nu
cleus was said to have been a few Catholic families
that came to live in Atlanta, then known as Marthas-
