The Sixth Annual Convention of the Catholic Laymen’s Assod atl
CONVENTION NOTES
The Washington, Wilkes County delegation to the
convention carried off the honors for enthusiasm. It
was out to get the convention for 1921, and invita
tions from the Board of Commerce and from the
Mayor to the Association were read in the convention.
The delegates to the convention and others who ap
peared in the photograph which is reproduced in this
issue were too busy after the picture was taken to
order. Several have inquired where they might get
the pictures. They are being handled by the Ham-
ilton-Beach Film Co., 146 Marietta Street, Atlanta,
and are a dollar and a half each. The Southern Book
Concern, 71 Whitehall Street, Atlanta, is making a
special price of $2.50 for framing them.
It was worth while to journey to Atlanta to meet
such staunch sons of the Church as Col. Malone and
R. W. Hatcher, both of whom spoke during the ses
sions. Col. Malone is an author of note, and is sta
tioned at Camp Benning. Mr. Hatcher is from Mil-
ledgeville.
Admiral Benson was entertained during his stay at
Atlanta by J. J. Spalding. Informal dinners in his
honor were given by Mr. Spalding and Mr. Haverty on
successive evenings.
Michael Williams of the National Council of Catholic
Men came from Washington for the meeting, and de
livered a stirring address near the close of the con
vention. It is the hope of the officials of the Laymen s
Association that Mr. Williams’ book, Catholics in the
War, will have in Georgia the wide circulation it de
serves, -
Rev. P. A. Ryan, S. J., until recently pastor of Sa
cred Heart Church, Augusta, but who has been in San
Francisco during the summer for his health, wired
greetings to the convention from California.
