- - — ~'iS hx *****•" — Public Notice it hereby Oiven. that the TOWN OF ALABAMA* - Is established at the site Ten-Mile-Bluff, on the Bast side of Alabama River, where a variety of TOWN WiU be exposed to public sale on the 3d ♦ Monday in October next, THE site of the town ishigh and com manding, and supposed to be one hundred feet above the level ot the water in the river opposite to the town, and is entirely removed from swamps, laguncs lull moraasea* In addition to tbib* the purity of the water, tne salubrity of the air, and the contiguity of a Mineral Spring to tlie Town Spring, will ensure to its inhabitants the most perfect health. In point of commercial advantages, this town capnot be surpassed, as it stands at the nearest eligible site to the head ol navigation on the Alabama river, and is only ten miles by land to the junction ot the Coosa and Talapoow rivers. The fertility of the surrounding coun try has beau tested during the present' sales, where the Alabama bottoms have average 1 £SO per acre, and the hickory lands in the ‘immediate neighbour hood of the town, have sold from ten to 14 dollars per acre. These last lands olive long been pronounced by the late Agent colonel Hawkins, to be the best body of Up-land in the Creek cession, and iulact flic town concentrates all the good lands embraced in the present sales. The immense capital concentrated in and contiguous to the town, is the surest pledge that can be given of its success to the various classes in society, who maj feel disposed to i urchase lots. THE subscriber having purchased a considerable portion of the low* grounds on the above livers, a great pan el which is cleared and now under culti vation, is disposed to treat with the occu pants, or others, as it respects the future enjoy meal s of these hue bottoms. lie therefore proposes to lease any tract for two years from the date of the S urchase, for a consideration of tweuty ve per cent, on the amount of the pur chase money, or sell Die same at tlie ave rage price byught atj upon receiving twenty-five per cent in money—the pur chaser to make the future payments to tlie government. The fertility of those lands is such fia to produce 100 bushels Corn to the acre, which is now worth for tlie standing crap, two dollars per bushel, and expected to continue so another y|ai s,al ter which it is probable the value, wul be about one dollar per bushel—the lands being situated on navigable waters, 'in'the heart of a new country, second to I none fur the culture of cotton, which will become the Staple commodity as soon as the population is sufficient to raise su plus produce fur exportation. Tn the neighborhood, and adjoining the jiver lands, the subscriber has a number «f tracts of upland for settlement, which Will be disposed of upon the same, or other accommodating terms. September &. ts -■ 100 Dollars Reward MAN AWAY from the subscribers, living in Augusta, Georgia, on the 26th of last month, two negro fellows, viz:—ADAM, a mulatto, about 38 years of .age, 5 feet AI. or 6 feet high, a large square shouldered, boney fellow, and ve ry strung, has a dirty appearance, large black whiskers and beard, which he gen erally wears long; he is a tolerable rough carpenter; appears humble when spoken to* and seems as if alarmed. He was purchased from a Mr. Joshua Gay, a negro trader. JACK, about 5 feet § or? inch es high, very stout made, of a dark com plexion, Mia has several of his fore teeth di -ayed or out, and about 25 years of age. He was brought from Lexington, Kentucky, by Messrs. Jacoby and Stone. • negro traders, where it is likely he will, attempt to go—it is recollected'that there was a swelling in his ham as large • 8 a hen’s egg, occasioned by a strain. The land is of a good quality, one half cleared and in cultivation—it is well watered and oi mulatto and grey soil—tolerable good improvements—a gin that goes by water, an apple orchard of 450 trees of choice fruit, i peach orchard of 6000 trees, and all fruit common in these parts. — The pul-chaser can be furnished with corn and fodder, and stock of ail kind on the premises -on good terras. J expect tc start to the Western coun try about the middle of August, and will be absent for two months. July 2. ts 20 Dollars Reward ON the 22dofJune, 1817, my house in Columbia county, was broken open and a ROBBERY committed. Two hundred and thirty dollars in bills, taken from my 4runk, among which was two tifty dollar bills on the Augusta bank, one of which had my name written on the back of the bill; five twenty dollar bills es the Bridge company, and three ten dollar bills, one of wnich was on the South-Jarolina bank, together with some articles of clothing. Any person to whom the above described bill (with my name on the back) should be offered, that will stop the same, give me infor mation so that I can have the same, shall be entitled to the above reward, and upon the conviction of the rogue shall be entitled to a reward of fifty dollars. The Mills are new and made of the best materials—the work manship complete, with every necessary machinery for manufacturing flour of the best quality—a good stand for selling goods—thick settled neighborhood, and no stores worth notice to oppose business and perhaps at this time, would be consi dered by good judges one among the greatest openings for a merchant that is above Augusta, either iu Georgia or Carolina.
