WHEREAS I have been informed that John Carnochan and Peter Mitchell of this City have by sundry deeds recently mortgaged and assigned to divers persons either their individual creditors, creditors of the late firm of Carnochan & Mitchel or others, all or sundry the property and firm as well as their own individual property and estate consisting together of houses, lots, lands, stores, wares, negroes &c. in Sa vannah and Darien in Georgia or the neighborhood thereof, and elsewhere, wilhtheirinterest or share in the stock of the Lower Steam Mill near Darien, and sundry shares in the United States Bank and other Banks, as well as sun dry, debts due to them in various places, beside lands, lots, negroes &c. in the territory of Florida, and particularly one large tract of land bought of Forbes & Co. laying between the rivers St. Marks and Apalachicola in the territory of Florida aforesaid. These are hereby to caution the public against purchasing any part of the said properly or estate so convey ed, or any other property belonging to the said Carnochan & Mitchell or either of them, as 1 hohlprior mortgages on the greatest part thereof, which are on re cord in the registry in Savannah and Darien aforesaid, and in Charleston, S. RANAWAY from kW 10th February last, a / Negro Man, named fcn>» about 21 years of age; six feet or upwards high; well made, but, rather slim ; a little bowlegged,—he is a likely, well countenanced fellow; has large, full eyes; is sensible and artful; he is remarkable for having a scald head, covered with a white scurf, and some scattering hair or wool, —but to prevent detection he will probably endeavor to have it cured, or m ike some application to alter its color. From the manner in which he went off, and his not beingsince heard of, I am induced to believe he has been stolen or seduced away by some white person. I will pay a reward of fifty dollars to any person who will se cure said runaway in jail, or otherwise, so that I get. him again ; if stolen, a fur ther reward of fifty dollars will be paid for apprehending the thief, on his convic tion. Any information respecting the said Negro, by any person who may have seen or heard of him, will be thankfully received; and if brought home, all rea sonable charges, in addition to the above reward, will be paid. Roger Harkins,} vs. C Petition to Establish a Benjamin Bell, j Lost Promissory Note. fINME petitioner in this case having JL filed his petition, seeking to es tablish a lost note, together with a co py of the said lost note as nearly as he could recollect, accompanied also by an affidavit of the former existence of the said note, and the loss of the same; It is ordered, that the said petition and J documents be affiled in the Clerk’s office of the Superior Court, open to the inspection of all and every person interested therein ; and it is further or dered, that the said lost note given by Benjamin Bell to the petitioner, be es tablished in lieu of the original, unless the saict Benjamin Bell shall siiew cause orp or before the first day of the next term of this conrt, why the prayer of the petitioner should not be grant ed.
