S. i October 17 19 2t I ~ ' Caution. p THE subscribers, proprietors of plan tations on the Savannah river, having suffered much in the loss of cattle, hogs, poultry, corn, &c. the cause of which they attribute te idle vagrants, who are in the habit of sauntering about their plantations, under the pretence btjishing and hunting —mixing with their slaves, eating, drinking and sleeping in their negro housesadopt this method of no tifying all persons whomsoever, that prosecutions will be entered against all and every person who may thus trespass on them for the future ; and that no per son will he allowed to enter their said premises, on any pretence, without leave being first obtained from them or their overseers. The hostility of our •limale to strangers, evinced lit the early ami h merited death of Mr. Tuck and al so by oilier numerous facts, induced the Board to enquire for some suitable per son who had been previously accustomed to the climate, to undertake the manage ment of the school. Such a person was found in Mr. Joel Catliu who being dis posed to give his whole attention to such an object for a length was imme diately sent on to New-York to obtain (he practical knowledge requisite for the suporinlendance of a Lancasteriau School.
