BE it enabled hy the Senate and Hmfe if

of duties on imports and tonnage ” as req lircs
the collect »r for the cl iit rid of Great Egg
harbor, in the Hate of New-Jerky to reside
at Somers’ Point, be, and the fame hereby
is repealed, and the said collcftor (hall re.'
fide at such place within fa id dilhift as may
be direded by the secretary of the treasury.
Sec. Z. And be it further enaSed, That
the town or landing place of Darien,, «n the
Alataraa'aa river, in the (fate of Georgia,
hall be h port *f delivery, to bcarnexed t»
the diftrift of Brunfwiek, and (hall he fab.
jest to the fame regulations and reftriftintis
us other port* of delivery in the U. States ;
and a surveyor (lull be appointed to reside
at the said port of delivery, who (lull be
entitled to receive one hundred dollars annu
al filar/, together with the other emolu
u.nents ofoffice, as fixed by existing laws.
Sec. 3. And be it further enabled, That
Ocracoke inlet, in North-Carolina, to
gether with Shell Caftel and Beacon illands,
and all the (1 lores, isl inds, shoals, bays and
waters within two miles of t he (hores of said
inlet, «n each fide thereof, (hall be a diilrift,
to be called the dillrift of Ocracoke ; the
Prou lent of the United States (hail be au
rhorifed to deiign tie such place in the said
didriii as he ill all think proper, to be the
port of entry; and a c«!leftor for (aid dif
trift (hall be,appointed to reside at such port
of entry, who in addition to his othere«olu
tHciits, dull he entitled to receive the salary
n«w allowed to the surveyor of Beacon ill
and, dr no osher ; & [hall also perform the
duties heretofore enjoined by law on the said
surveyor : But no duties (hall be paid, er
fecurcd ta be paid, in the said dillrift of O
cmcoke, on any articles intended for any otb
cr port connected with the waters of the said
inlet of Ocracoke, such only excepted as
may be call away within the said dillrift.

be henceforth abolihed, and the mailers cr
commanders of every (hip or vessel coming
in at Qjcracoke inlet, and intending to un.
ladder cargo or any part threof, at any
port, other than the dillrift of Ocracoke,
esnnefted with the. waters of the said inlet,
as well as the uiaftcrs or commanders of all
lighters.or ccvaTting vessels, whoihall receive

Bs it enacted by the Senate and House of
Keprefentafives of the U. States of
America, ut Congress affemhltd. That the
rraiders and receivers cf public monies of
the diftrifts of Vincennes and Kalktfkias, re.
fpeftively. be, and they are hereby autho
rifed and empowered, under the d.reftion or
, the secretary of the tre-fary, to by oat ew
or more trafts of land, tn their refpefttve it
ft rifts, for the purpose of locating therein,
trafts of land granted by virtue ct any legal
French or Bruih grams, or of any refo«u
tion craft of Congress ; Provided, that the
trafts thus laid out (hall be whenever prafti
cable, adjoining the trafts which, in confor
mity with former laws, had been laid out for
f miliar pirpofa by the governors of the north
weft or Indiana territories ; and the trafts
thus bid out (hall not be otherwtfe difpofcd

Sec. 3. And be it further <na»ci> That
the Registers and receivers aforefaid (hall
compicat and transmit their reports to the
fecrctary of the treasury before the firft day
of December next. Each of the said offi
cers fall be allowed an additional compenfa
ti*n as five hundred dollars ; & each of the
clerics of the relpertivehoards, (hallbe allowed
an additional coinpenfatlon of two hundred
and fifty dollars, in fnll for his fcrviccs as
such in relation to fuoh claims.
Sec. 4,. And be it further enaded, That
the regilier and receiver of public monies in
the diftrirt of Cincinnati be, and they are
hereby authoris'd to grant certificates of a
right of pre-emption to any porfon rending
on any reserved fertiou (other than feftion
Ni. 1 5,) tot the trart m which he resides,
on the applicant’s producing fafisfrrtory evi
dence that his claim was within the provi

led “ An art making provision for the dis
posal of the public lands in the Indiana ter

twentieth part of the purchase money, on

be granted for any lands previously granted'

BE it enabled by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States of
America, in congie/s ajfembled , That for
■defraying the expence of the militia establish
ment of the. United ?tatc«, for the year one
thousand eight hundred and fix; for the
Indian department, and for the expcncc
*of fortifications, arsenals, magazines and
armories, the following sums be, and the
fame hereby are refpedtively appropriated ;

For the pay of the army of the Umtsd
States, three hundred and two thoufaud,
five hundred and fifty-fix dollars :
For forage, four thousand fix hundred
and eight dollars :
For the fubfiftance of the army and corps
of engineers, two hundred and twenty four

of Majfachufetts ; for building a beaeon,
or pier, at bridgeport, in the fate of
Connecticut; and for fixing buoys in Pam.
piticofound, in the fate of North Caroh-
B*K it enabled by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States of
America, m Congre/s Ajfembled, That the
Secretary of the Trcalury be, and he is
hereby authorized and direrted to cause to
be crcrtcd the following light houses in the
state of Mrffachufetts: , .
One on Franklin ifiand, at the mouth ot
Sr. George's river, in the diftrirt of Maine,

Ore #n Weft Paffamaquody head, at the
entrance into the bay and harbour of Paf
fainquedy, in the dittriid of Maine.
And a double light house at or near Chat
ham harbour, on the back of cape Cod.
Provided fufficient land for the accom
modation of the said light houses can be ob
tained at reafvnable prices, and the leglf
laturc cf Maffacbafctts (hall cede the juris
diction over the fame to the United States.
And the fecrctary of the treasury is hereby
authorized to agree for the salaries, or wa
ges, of the persons who may be appointed
by the PrefiJent for the fiiperintcndance and
car* of said light houses, and otherwise to
provide for the fame, at the expence of the
United States.
Sec. 2. And he it further enaSed, That
tha fecrctary cf the treasury be, anil he is
hereby required to caufc a beacon, or pier,
to be creClcd near the mouth of the harbour
of Bridgeport, in the state «f Connecticut;
and to c mfe buoys to be fixed on BlulFShoa),
Royal Shoal, north weft Shaddle, and fouth
weft Shaddle, in the waters of Pamptico
found, in the state of North Carolina.
Sec. 3. And be it further enabled,

pence of erecting each or the aforefaui ligm
houses, the furp .of five thousand dollars;
for the expence of trading the said beacon?
or pier, the firm of »ne thousand dollars ;
and for expence of fixing the said buuys,
one thousand dollars, to be paid, refpcCtive
ly, out of any money in the treasury not
otherwise appropriated.

much by him expended to the use of the U,
States, for provision and forage, supplied
by him, for his men and horses, and for

BE it enabled by the Senate and Horse
of Representatives of the United States

fecrctary of the treasury shall cause to he
paid, at the treasury of the United S r ates,
the amount of certain claims of citizens of
the United States against the government
of France, anfing from the Bordeaux em
bargo, in conformity with a certified lift *f
liquidations, attetted by the mini tier cf the
public trealnry of France, and tranfir.ittcd #
by the minister plenipotentiary of the U.
Stares, at Paris, to the said fecrctary ;
which payments lhall be made for such sums,
respectively, as are ttated in the ab«ve
mentioned lift of liquidations, to such per
sons, refpeftively, as the accounting officers
cf the treasury shall determine to be right,
fully entitled to the fame, and out of the .
monies heretofre appropriated for the purpofc

BE it enabled h t^e Senate and Mou/eof
Representatives of the fate of Georgia ,
in General AJfembly met, anJ it is Indy
matted by the muihtrity afore/aid, That for
the support of government, for the political
year, 1806, the following sums of money
be appropriated, viz ; The salary of the
Governor, shall be two theufand five hun
dred dollars per annum j the secretaries of
the Executive Department, not exceeding
two, five hundred dollars each; the fecrctary
of state, two hundred dollars; the treafarcr,
twelve hundred dollars ; the surveyor gene
ral, two hundred dollars ; the comptroller
general, four hundred dollars; the clerk of
the Heufe of Representatives, three hundred
dollars ; the fecrctary of the Senate, three
hundred dollars ; the judges of the superior
court, fourteen hundred dollars each; the
attorney general, and two folicitots gene
ral, one hundred and fifty dollars each ;
which laid several turns (hall be, and they
are hereby appropriated for their ufc, to be
ptid quarterly by warrant from the govern
or, on the treasury, out of the taxes to be
received for tho years eighteen hundred
four, and eighteen hundred five.
Sec. a. And be it further enaSted, That
the sum of fifteen thousand dollars be appro
priated as a contingent fund, fubjeft to the

aux, one hundred and five dollars ; to Oli
ver Porter, fixry dollars, and to George
M, Troup, the furn of eighty dollars ; to
Benj. Eafley Sc bis chain carriers, for laying
out the town of Millcdgcvillc, the sum of
two hundred and fifty four dollars ; to
Samuel Tinfley, fecrctary to the ermmif
fioners, one hundred and twenty fix dollars,
and to the said commifltoners for printing,
twenty two dollats; to Abraham Jones,
the sum of two hundred and eighty three
dollars, agreeably to a concurred rcfolution ;
to Jofcph Law, the sum of one hundred and
thirty eight dollars, agreeably to a concur
red rcfolution ; to William Johnson, the
furn of three hundred and ninety three dol
lars and twenty seven cents agreeably to a
concurred rcfolution, which said several sum»
are hereby appropriated for their use, and
(hall be paid out of any ironies which now
arc or hereafter may be in the treasury, not
otherwise fpeciallv appropriated.
Sec. 4. And be it further enatied, That
the sum of fifteen thoufanddoilars be appro
priated, and fuhjeft to the order of the
commiffioncrs of Milledgcville, to enable
them to contrail for the ertftion of a ftate
hnufe, at Millcdgevrlle ; which said sum
(hall be paid out of any monies which now
' are, or hereafter may be in the treasury, not
otherwise fpccially appropriated.
Sec. 5. And be it further enabled, That
the following sums be appropriated' to the
use vt the several persons herein after named,
and payable as above mentioned—that is
to fay, to Butke Chifloro, drawer cf the
lottery, two dollars per day, and Peter
Pharr, messenger to the commiflicners of
thrlot’ery, two dollars per day; to Am.
