United States Circuit Court. The trial of the eight seaman belong ing to the smack Hiram, commenced yes terday b fore Judge Johnston. The first indictment was taken up, charging them with piracy on the Xpaivsh schooner San Pedro, nearthe Island ot Cuba, and after an investigation that occupied the whole day, the jury returned h veulict of not guilty. The court is engaged to-day on the se cond indictment against them, for piracy on a Spanish vessel name unknown, also near the Island of Cuba. On motion of Mr. Butler, Resolved, That the committee on the PoA Office and Post Roads he instructed to enquire into the expediency of provid ing by law for prohibiting printers and editors of newspapers, and all other per sons who are proprietors of any such print ing establishment, or in any way concerned in the publication of newspapers, from being mail contractors or post mailers ; and also prohibiting post musters from being mail contractors, or being employ ed in the conveyance of (he mail. States, so far us to allow a further time of redemption on the lairls sold for the non-payment of the tax, where the same have been purchased on behalf of tho U. States.
