" We have in our possession several samples
of a murderous instrument, some of a large
number, of which ihe following account is
given by Ihe merchant in Wasningion City
who has them for sale: He s*ys they were
brought to him by a man of ihe name uf Bai
ley, who lives somewhere iu Fairfax county,
with instructions to sell them. He says Bai
ley informed him that be found them secreted
under a pile of leaves in ibe woods or In some
out building. There were about iwo hundred

were deposited for sale as above staled.
“Tbe weapou itself is in fotm like a toma
hawk, except that (he part opposite ibe blade
