Washington, April 19.—Four steamers at
Aquia Creek are detained by the Government,
under apjprdhnfisto* that they are to bo used
for sec ids ie a purposes. An agent 1i here en
deavoring to have them released to-morrow.
The steamer Pawnee, with troops, Ac., on
board, reported ready for further service.
Twenty members of the Massachusetts Bat
tallion, who were attacked in Baltimore, wire
oonveyed to the Infirmary here—others ere
elightly wounded.
A strong guard it placed at all the outposts
around tbe City to-nigbt, and fully five thou
sand troops are under arms in and around the
City.
A strong Union sentiment pervades all class
es, and the city is shrouded in the deepest
gloom at the occurrence et Baltimore to day.

feeling of sotesunity, suspense end anxiety
pervades tho entire community.
Latest Baltimore ad vice# state that only two
of tho Massachusetts soldiers known to be

chants North, and estimates that tho city of
New York will suffer to the tune of fifty or six
