Commodore Vanderbilt says hs has inform ed the Government that it can have, gratis, his whole fleet of steamers, fully manned and equipped- Mayor Wood recommends the appropria tion, by the eity authorities, of one million of dollars for war purposes. A lot of uniforms were seized in a store in Dey street. Naw York, April 23. The Annual Meeting of the National Typo graphical Association is indefinitely postponed. Gen. Pierce lu the Field 1 Concord, N. H., April 23.—Ex-President Franklin Pierce addressed the people to-day, urging them to uphold the flag, and be true to the Country. Gau Powder Seised, «skc. Naw York, April 23.—One thousand barrels of powder, bound to New Orleans, were seised here yesterday ; also a lot of blank Registra tions for vessels, Southward bound, and sus pected vessels are being watched. Senator Wilson baa enlisted as a private in tbe Massachusetts Rifles. Senator Baker has been chosen Colonel of the California Regimeut. The Eighth Regiment of Massachusetts have landed at Fort McHenry. Harrirbcro, Pa., April 22, 1861.—Fears are entertained that tbe Maryland Volunteers will make a demonstration on Chambereburg. Tbe Virginians are rapidly cooctotrating at Affaire lu BaltlmQa'e. Baltimors, April 33.~Nothing but secession flags flying. Nobody daree proclaim himself favorable to the Union. Armed men are sta tioned to prevent the re-building of the Bridges destroyed a day or two ago. Washington Strongly Protected—Astor given the Governmert •*,000,000— Missourian* Indignant. Nsw York, April 23.—Advices from Wash ington say that the Government has planted cannon on all the heights overlooking the eity. About ten thousand troops are under arms. Win. B. Astor has offered to give the Govern ment ft4,tt6O,O0i>, and to loan it $10,000,006 mere. The St. Louis papers state that the people of the interior of Missouri are indignant at Lin coln for calling out u large a military force. A good deal of secession feeling in some regions; bat private sentiment is unanimous for concil iation and peace. The city is fall of rumors, but quiet, demonstrations as vet. Harpers'Ferry. Five thousand troope are ex pected—tbolr supposed destination is Washing ton. Thrae Railroad Bridges between Har* risburg and Baltimore have been destroyed. Independence, Mo., April 22, 1861.—The arms and munitions of war at the arsenals at Libarty have bean given up, haviog bean soil* od by Misaourians. An immense secession meeting was held here. Thousands from the adjoining counties and Kansas wera present. The Seoesston flag was displayed in many prominent places. St. Joseph, Mo., April 22,1861.—A seces sion flag was unfurled here to day, carried through the streets by n mounted company, end afterwards raised in Market Square with* out disturbance.
