Richmond dispatches, dated j se ts rd a j state that a sharp and brilliant fight occurred on Mondaj, near Phillippi, ia the Norfolk part of Virginia. Nine hundred Con federate troops were ettecked bj 3,000 Feder alists. At first, the Confederates were thrown into confusion; retreated two miles; rallied; three times repulsed the Federalists, notwith standing tha great disparitj of numbers. About eeventj Federalists were killed; and onIj six of tba Confederates. The Federalists were pro vided with light artillerj, which were manag ed bj regulors from Carlisle barracks. Tbs Confederates were without cannon. Ex-Gov. Wise has been appointed Brigadier General, and is raising a Legion for the War. During its raising, he will visit Wetern Virgin ia with the viaw to rouse tha slumbering pa triotism of the people there. Official returns from Western Virginia show an aggregate mejoritj of 31,000 in favor of tha ratification of the Ordinance of Secession. Norfolk, June 7.—Nothing of interest trans piring here. The tjphoid fever is spreading rapidlj and fatallj at Fortress Monroe. St. Louis, June 7—The Judge of the Dis trict Court, at Springfiald, Illinois, has issued a writ of habeas corpus in tha case Emmett McDonald. Nsw-York, June T*.—The Vandalia sailed to-daj to join the blockading squadron. The Desoto has arrived from Havana. Su gar is raported one-half real there. Bostoh, June 7.—The Susquehana has ar rived. Commodore Holding, First Lieutenant Barnsj, the Purser and three Midshipmen have resigned. Ciscihati, Juae 3.—Two columns of troops from Gen. McClellan’s command, ona in com mand ef Col. Kellj, of tha 1st Virginia volun teers, and the other commanded hj Col. Crit tenden, of the Indiana volunteers, left Grafton last night, and after marching durinx the en tire night for about twentj miles through a drenching rain, surprising a camp of rebels 2,000 strong at Phillippi, Virginia, routed them, hilling fifteen, and capturing a large amount of arms, horses, ammunition, provisions, and all thair samp aquipage. The surprise was complete, and at our last advicea the Feaeral troops were in hot pursuit of the rebels, and it ia quite probable manj prisoners will be taken. Col.
