The battle (in whioh Col. Wolfe was killed) was fought on Saturday, 80 miles from Springfield. The State journal has the following: A dis patch received last night says the fight in tho South-West between the State troope, and tho Federate under Zeigler and others, 12 miles beyond Carthsgo, resulted in tbo Federal troops being completely routed with great •laughter. They were pursued 14 milee, to a point two milts beyond Carthago, whore night ended the reoe and they were oeptured. Th* journal further learns, by a letter from Gon. Parsons, said to have been received in Jeffer* son City, that be (Persons) after the pursuit, surrounded Zeigler’s force and demanded a surrender. Zeigler deeired to surrender bis men without their arms; but Parsons insisted on an unconditional surrender, which was complied with. Among the killed was Col. B.
