WASHINGTON’S BIRTH-DAY BALL.
MR. J. C. SMITH’S compliments to the ladies
and gentlemen of Augusta, and begs to in-
I form them that the usual Ball, in commemoration
I of the birth of the immortal Washington, will be
j given on the 21st inst., in the large ball room of the
Masonic Hall. The committee have determieed,on
this interesting occasion, to introduce a novel and
popular pian, one which has received so much
eclat in the European and Northern cities—instead
of providing a large, formal and expensive supper,
an abundant supply ®f refreshments cf all varieties
will be provided, with which the servants will sup
, ply ladies and gentlemen, at agreeable intervals
I during the evening—in short, the unpleasant style
| ot large suppers will be supplanted by the more
I social and agreeable form of a tea party. The 22d
j falling on Saturday, the Ball will be given on Fri

I from the interest of the occasion, as the amuse
