j store of Messrs. J. J. Roberijson Co., forths
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, U} means of these
uslly celebrated instruments. Itb has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who have been radi
ally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of b$ ing entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medica. Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ the instruments of Dr. Chase have etfected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material incor-. enience to the
patient, and often under trials m|re severe than
are usually ventured upon by those|who weaicther
trusses-, trials that would be imprudent witli any
other apparatus known to the conaijuttee. 3 ’
“ The committee are induced b j the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means- of me
chanical retention in hernia, and q furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.” \
The fol owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in uiqiwn city.
“ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are dqcidedly the best
yet invented to etfect the object.” |

‘•lnfal ible Rheumatic Mixtures,” all of which be

This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success which has attended it through al of its
trying circumstances, namely, “live days,”—the
same success which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
j and hazard by VI Che veres, from lire celebrated
Indian ( hies Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
, j he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
| siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an a most
incredible extent the chi dren of this war ike ounce,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his ’eceipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “ait of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
i places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura

Below' is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe. to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
’ the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparingthe article for im

Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, —By request of your agent,
I Mr. Harrison, I send you a few linc> respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your piPs; and 1 would
1 a id, that you may make use ol them, in connection
i with my name, in any manner you deem proper, 1
I speak of their merits from experience,as 1 and my
| family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in thice
i tears; and so great ak? the benefits we have receiv
-8 ; ed from them in general, that 1 would rather pur
s i chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house
it I without them. 1 will not enumerate the afflictions
I they have relieved us of; but 1 can assure you they
I. | were many, and of very opposite natures, which
S I has fully proved to me that your medicine isasim
>, pie purifier of the system, and therefore equally
q 1 the enemy of every disease. Iwi 1 mention one
y 1 case. I have a sister who had been for a long pe
'■ riod sc* erely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
r was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
|J She was attended by the most eminent physicians
1 that money could procure; but all their efforts to
1 ! restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suller
" mgs were fruitless ; and accordingly,we all consid
' ered her immediate death as inevitable, hy good
s fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex
pect ng every day to be her last, your pills wore
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
e pable were their effects that three doses visibly te
a lieved her, and in less than three months she was
_ perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all
r who were witness of it, (but more especially t lie
suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
t | miraculous; and yet i could mention many more
s of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
,t were equally successful in rescuing the patients
e from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country ? But this 1 presume
you know from the immense quantity 3 011 dispose
of i may mention, however, that notwithstanding
» its general use, i never heard an individual complain
’■ of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Fa;
'» eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with son
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
