A REAL BLESSING TO MOTHERS.
DR W. EVANS' CELEBRATED SOOTHING
SYRUP, for Children Cutting their Teeth. —This
infallible remedy has preserved hundreds of chil
dren, when thought past recovery, from convul
sions As soon as the Syrup is rubbed am the !
gums, the child will recover. The preparation is
so innocent, so efficacious and sc pleasant, shat no
child will refuse to lot its gums be rubbed kith it.
When infants are at the age of four mouths, though
there is no appearance of teeth, one bottielof the
Syrup should be used on the gums, to opln the
pores. Parents should never be without tlnSSyrup
in the nursery where there are young childifn ; for
if a child wakes in thenigbt with pain in tfuKgums,
the Syrup immediately gives ease, by open? ig the
pores and healing the gums; thereby preventing

fiIHE Trustees of this institution are happy to
j have it in their power to slate, that both the
principal Academy in Augusta, and the branch at
Summerville, have resumed their exercises, under !
the management of Teachers who have the full
confidence of the Trustees, and who, they are sa
tisfied, arc fully entitled to that of the public.
Mr. Ernenputsch. the Rector of the-Academy-,
already favorably known to the community-, has
charge of the Classical department and al! the
education requisite for admission to
our best Colleges. His attainments as a scholar
and success in imparting useful knowledge, emi
nently qualify- him for the discharge of the im
port.nl duties of his station.
Mr. King, the principal English Teacher, re
cently engage d by the Board, comes with the high
est recommenda ions as to character, talents, lite
rary attainments and skill in teaching, and the
Trustees feel assured that he will sustain the re
putation which led to his selection.
The branch of the Academy at Summerville is
under the immediate management of Mr. Frank
lin George, a gentleman of experience in teach
ing, and highly recommended. The advantage of
the location of this blanch of the Academy- in one
of the most healthful neighborhoods in the State,
and sufficiently- remote from the unfavorable in
fluence of a crowded town, are too well known to
need comment.
On the whole, the Board confidently- recommend
to the public the principal Academy and the Branch
at Summerville, as being ou a better footing than
they have heretofore been, and. promising great
usefulness to those who may avail themselves of
the advantages which they offer.

HERMITAGE EXTRACT.—This lately in
vented combination of delightful odors, Pas
a, qmred a just popularity, not only by re-son of
the-strength and delicacy, but of the extrao;dir.a
yy duration of ils perfume. Whilst the slrengtli-of
many other extracts and essences is almost as eva
nescent as the bloom of the dowers from which
they are derived, the Hermitage retains its fra- (
grance for an indefinite length, of time, and is
scarce to be removed from the garment on which it
is poured, by washing; hence it is probably the
cheapest aad raost delightful perfume of our labora
