So certain and searching is this Liniment in its operations, even in cases of long standing, and of an obstinate nature, that it has never been known to fail. The following letters are selected from hundreds of others of a like de scription. It will be proper that all persons using he Liniment, see that it is accompanied with the signature of the proprietor in his own hand writing. Since the introduction of this remedy to the public, various empirics have been palmed upon the coun trj', Nostrums and Lotions, and Liniments, and “Infallible Rheumatic Mixtures,” all of which be- I ing a compound of ignorant quacks, arc calculated, i more or less, to injure the system rather than re- S move any complaint. Its operation upon the human system is such that it invariably acts like a charm, for the relief and ladical cure of a certain common and disagreeable ‘-ills the flesh is heir to.” This prize obtains its own name from the certain success which has attended it through all of its trying circumstances, namely, “live days,”—the same success which followed it in a Northern lati tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated Indian Chief Wabesotiie, or Great Moon, whilst he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu siness in the North-west with the Indians. — Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable success throughout his two tribes. Its known and valued virtues have already enriched to an almost incredible extent the children of this wail ike prince, not only by actual sale of the article itself to in dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although . free to use it in their respective tribes, which places it in the hands of every Indian who rely with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura ble powers. p Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to M. Chevcret, when he purchased the original recipe, and had twice assisted the Chief himself through the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture. Few white men would credit the length of time which is consumed in preparing the article for im mediate use. This state ot the public mind would seem to forbid any person of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis coveries in medicine, to the trial of the public.— Still, motives of delicacy should not prevent us from making known real discoveries, which w e are con fident will benefit our fellow men. The extraordinary reputation that Dr. Spohn’s remedy for (his distressing compaint is every day gaining is certainly a matter of much astonishment, That so m ich suffering should have existed for ages without any discovery of an effectual preventive, or cure,is truly a subject of much regret but Dr. S. now assures the public that such a remedy has been invented as will convince the most credulous. The principles on w hich it acts are simple and plain. It is an admitted fact that this complaint, whether called Sick Headache, or Nervous Headache, arises prim arily from the stomach—those who think they have the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this organ, the stomach, is the first cause, lhat th 3 sys tem has become vitiated or debilitated, thiough the stomach, and that only through the same channel must they expects restoration of ihe natural and healthy functions of the system. They have passed away from the hundreds that are daily launched upon the tide of experiment, and now stand before the public as high in reputation, and as extensively employed in all parts of the United States, the Canadas, Texas Mexico, and the West Indies, as any medicine tbai has ever been prepared for the relief of suffering man. They have been introduced wherever it was found possible to carry them ; and there are but few towns that do not contain some remarkable evidences of their good effects. The certificates that have been presented to the propiietor exceed twenty thousand! upwards of live hundred of which are from regular practising physicians, who arc the most competent judges of their merits. Often have the cures performed by this medicin been the subject of editorial comment, in variou newspapers and journals; and it may with truth be asserted, that no medicine of the kinl has ever re ceived testimonials of greater value thm are at tached to this. They are in general use as a family medicine and there aie.lhou sands of families who declare they re never satisfied until they have a supply always on hand. They have no rival in curing and preventing Billious Fevers, Fever and Ague, Dyspepsia, Liver Complaints, Sick Headache, Jaundice, Asthma, Dropsy, Rheumatism, Enlargement of the Spleen, Piles, Cholic, Female Obstructions, Heartburn, Furred Tongue, Nausea, Distension of the Stomach and Bowels, Incipient Diarrhoea,Flatulence,Habitu al Costivcnes.s, Loss of Appetite, Blotched or Sallow Complexion, and in cases of torpor of the bowels, where a cathartic or aperient is needed They are exceedingly mild in their operation, producing neither nausea, griping nor debilitv. The following was forwarded to Dr. Peters, by a highly respectable Planter of Wake County, No Ca.,March 3d, 183 S: Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, —By request of your agent, Mr, Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the almost miraculous effects of your pil’s ; and I would add, that 3'ou may make use ol them, in connection with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I speak of their merits from experience,as I and my family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three years ; and so great aK the benefits we have receiv ed from them in general, that 1 would rather pur chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house without them. I w ill not enumerate lire alfiictions they have relieved us of; but I can assure you they were many, and of very opposite natures, which has fully proved to me that your medicine is a sim ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally the enemy of every disease. I will mention one case. 1 have a sister who had been for a long pe riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and was brought by it to the very verge of the gra\e. She w T as attended by the most eminent physicians that money could procure; but all their efforts to restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we ail consid ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good fortune, however, as she was in this situation, ex pecting every day to be her last, jour pills were introduced into m3' family', and so speedy and pal pable were their effccJLs that three doses visibly re lieved her, and in less than three months she was I perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all ; who were witness of it, (but more especially the i suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to ; miraculous; and yet 1 could mention man3' more I of an equall3 r desperate nature, in which your pills were equally successful in rescuing the patients from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu larity of 3'our medicine amounts to enthusiasm in this section of the country ? But this 1 presume you know from the immense quantity 30a dispose of. 1 ma3 r mention, however, that notwithstanding its general use, I never heard an individual complain j of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Ral | eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen ; timents of regard, your ob’t servant. A. G. BANKS. To Dr. Peters, —Sir—For upward- of fifteen months, 1 have been cruelly afflicted with Fever and Ague; and during the time could find nothing — though 1 had applied to every thing that gave me an3' thing like permanent relief. At length, how ever, your pills were recommended to me, Dy one of our best j»hy slcians, and 1 am most grateful and happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used ‘ two boxes when I found that they had restored me ! to perfect health. Since then, various members of ! m3' family have used them with equal success — and consequently 1 feel it m3' duty to apprise 3ou of the fact, and to request of 3'ou to publish this certificate, as 1 am anxious to add m3' public testi ! 100113- to the almost miraculous virtues of your un- I rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours, THEODORE JAMES, i Augusta, Ga., Feb 10,1839. Communication received from the eminent Dr. J. j H. Irwin of Florence, Georgia: Dr. J. P. Peters —My Dear Sir—On the night of | the 11th inst., I was called in great haste to the ! house of a fellow chizen, (Mr. Lee,) where I found his son laboring under a most alarming attack of i Cynanche Tracncalis (Croup) and apparently he ; 3'ond the aid of rened3'. By the greatest good for tune, however, 1 had in my pocket a broken box of your pills—four of which 1 administere I, with such immediate happy effect that in a few minutes my patient was at ease, and out of danger. This case,in connection with my name is at your ser vice—and 1 have the pleasure to be able to inform you that your inestimable medicine is in such great j favor with the facult3' here, that I believe there is i not one of them who does not use it in his private i practice. Extract from a letter written-by Dr. Francis Bo gart, of Providence, 11. 1., Dec. 17, IS3S.—Peters’ pills are an excellent aperient and cathartic medi cine, those effects being produced by the differences of the quantity taken, and are decidedly supeiior j to Lee’s, Brandrcth’s or Morrison’s Pills. Extract from a letter b3' Dr. Hopson of Bangor, IMe , Jan. 9, 1839. The3' are a peculiarly mild, 30! i efficient purgative medicine, and produce little, if any, griping or nausea. They are indeed a superior medicine, and reflect credit alike upon the Chemist the Physician, and the Philosopher. MtcKLEXtufis co. va. Feb. 7. i2S7. Having used Dr. Peters’ Pills in my practice for he last twelve months, I take pleasure in giving my testimony of their good effects in oases of dys pepsia, sick head-ache, bilious fevers, and other diseases, produced by inactivity of the liver. In all the various cases of languor lassitude, and debilitation ; it is an unfailing reme dy ; as it is equally its province to impart cheerful ness and decision to the mind, as health and vi» o r to the body. But the peculiar virtue on which “it* celebrity is based, is the facility and certainty with which it restores Hie virile powers when they have be»n destroyed by disease, time, recklessness, or an r of the numerous causes which terminate in th e prostration of those functions. In common with the generality of really good medicines, this Cordial contains nothing of a n er. curial or deleterious nature, among the many ingre dients which compose it; but is, at the same time so simple, yet so efficacious, that while it can reno’ v ate the prostrated energies of a giant, an mfan may use it,not only with impunity, but with ad vantage. The usages of society are unfortunately such that, notwithstanding the ben. fits which would be sure to result from it, we cannot enter into an analy sis ol this ine ttmabie Cordial here, or publish many of the documents which have been received, as vouchers of the blessings it has conferrcdon num bers of despairingindividuals. But this wccannot forbear remarking—that it. has been demonstrated that there is scarcely ever, if any such thing at ail, as natural barrenness, or as natural imbecility of the procreant functions, in either sex ; and therefore, that these evils are the effects of artificial causes, and may be speedily subdued «ud removed by the use ot “ Le Cordial de Lucine.” The Lucina Cordial is also tn induhiiable cure for the Gleet, and the Fluor Albus, obstructed, diffi cult, or painful Menstruation; also, for the incon tinence ol Urine,or the involuntary discharge there of. It is likewise an invaluable and unrivalled medicine in cases of Chronic Eruptions of theskin, and in the dropsical affections of the aged. Most important to the American Public.
