the system of all vitiated, coigUpt and aciid humors,
and thus invigorate and reanijmate the whole frame.
Possessing a purgative qualify, they cannot remain
in the bcTwels to produce skcli other diseases as

this most distressing maladykif the human family.
The proprietors solemnly pledge themselves that
they do not contain a particle of minerals in any
shape or form, but are compo|t*d entirely of simple
vegetable substances, which [either separately or
combined, and without rega’pi to sex or age, are
perfectly harmless in their elpcts upon the human
system. i ;

THIS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
long known, and used with such unparralleled
t success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
, pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
* human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
[2 common and disagreeable “ills the flesh is heir to.”
i_ This prize obtains its own name from the certain
o success which has attended it through all of its
* trying circumstances, namely, “five days,”—the
- same success which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
[l or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
ir and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
* Indian Chief Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
lo siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
« success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
J* valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
* incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
y dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
)r Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
b, position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
p free to use it in their respective tribes, which
_ places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
w'itk, I may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
f be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to
M. Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
- the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
r which is consumed in preparing the article for im
-1 mediate use.

is to subdue every vestige of inflamation, and then
acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic ; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, for
the subduclion of this loathsome malady —and cv
s ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain the
1 assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in

ajsound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,”
s is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to

gir ed, have been destroyed by it in less than two
months. In the hues of poisonous reptiles its effi
cacy is truly surprising, and if applied in time, its
powers of attraction are so wonderful that they will
at once arrest the poison and thus prevent it from
perva ling the system. It is likewise greatly supe
rior to any medicine heretofore discovered for the
chafed back and limbs of horses —for tetters, ring
«orms, chapped lips—and in short, for every extei
tl bodily evil that may fall to the lot of man or
beast.

Sir—The virtues of your Specific Ointment, have J
been long known to me,as 1 have used none other [
in my rather extensive practice for several years, and :
if you think it would be to your advantage, I can "
furnish you with twenty certificates of important ‘
cures which it has effected under my own imme

and apparently perpetual ulcer, in the back of a 1
poor woman, Mary Baxter who resides in 216 Di- (
vision street, which it completely healed in twenty 1
one days. My present chief object in w riting to (
you, is to learn who is your authorised agent in this
city, for, being in want of a supply of your oint- I
merit, and the person Mr. Boyle, from whom I used 1
to purchase it, having laded and gone out of bust- (

may be imposed on by a counterfeit. i

Sir, —I have no hesitation in stating, in reply to *
your note, that your “ Specific Ointment” is truly :
equal to the majority of the ends for which you re- 1
commend it. 1 qualify ray certificate by the word
majority, as it is my maxim to give no opinion in 1
medical matters where 1 have had no experience, s
In sprains, bruises, inflammations, eruptions, whit- ;
lows, piles, &c., it is mv universal recipe. I have s
also used it on the leg of a hoy which had been i
bitten by an adder, and the extraction of the poison,
and ultimate cure was so rapid, that my patient was ]
as well as ever in a week ; and has remained so to 1
this day .

high in reputation, and as extensively employed in

Ca.,March 3d, IS3S:
Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By' request of your agent,
Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your pil's; and I would
add, that you may' make use ol them, in connection
with my r name, in any manner you deem proper, 1
speak of their merits from experience, as I and my
family' have taken upwards of thirty' boxes in three
years; and so great aw the benefits we have receiv
ed from them in general, that I would rather pur
chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house
without them. I will not enumerate the afflictions
they have relieved us of; but I can assure you they
were many', and of very opposite natures, which
has fully proved to me that y our medicine is a sim
ple purifier of the system, and therefore equally
the enemy of every' disease. I will mention one
case. 1 have a sister who had been for a long pe
riod severely afflicted with dropsy- in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; but all their efforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly ,we all consid
ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good
fortune, however, as she w r as in this situation, ex
pecting every'day to be her last, your pills were
introduced into my' family', and so speedy and pal
pable were their effects that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three moiflhs she was
perfectly restored to health. This case, I and all
who were witness of it, (but more especially the
suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
miraculous; and yet I could mention many more
of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
were equally successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaws of death. Need 1 add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country ? But this I presume
y r ou know from the immense quantity y r ou dispose
of. I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, I never heard an individual complain
of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Ral
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters, —Sir —For upward® of fifteen
months, I have been cruelly afflicted with. Fever
and Ague; and during the time could find nothing—
though 1 had applied to every thing that gave me
any' thing like permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
of our best physicians, and I am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that I had scarcely used
two boxes w'heu I found that they' had restored me
to perfect health. Since then, various members of
my family have used them with equal success—
and consequently'l feel it my duty to apprise you
of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
certificate, as I am anxious to add my public testi
mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un
rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours,
THEODORE JAMES.

The usages of society are unfortunately such,
that, notwithstanding the benefits which would be

of the documents which have been received, as

To Dr. Magnin:—My dear friend—l am mos
gratified at the unprecedented popularity ol your
“Lucina Cordial,” and am able to wear testimony to
its surprising virtue. 1 had a patient recently,
1 Vi , a gentleman ot fortune, who had lor ,
several years abandoned himself in the vortex ot
dissipation ; and was only reclaimed from il at
length by the utter prostration of all his virile ener
gies. lie was, indeed, reduced to the last extremity
of debility and t istelessness, for, if an occasional
flash of excitement warmed his system, the reac- •
turn was almost immediate, and the result pertect
prostration. I had applied all the usual nostrums
in such cases ; but, as I had anticipated, without
success ; and when 1 saw the “ Lucuia Cordial” E
advertised, 1 must confess that even the great weight "
of your name did not give me much hope in it, at
least so fur as regarded the case in hand. I felt
bound to try it,however, and was soon satisfied of
its efficacy; for before a bottle was expended, my
patient gave evidence of the returning elasticity of
his system,; and he is now, having used four buttlem
as weilts ever.
The number of documents, such as the above I
which have been received by Mr. Magnin, since il»e
first appearance ot “ Ee Cordial de Lucine,” would
fill a volume as large as the Bible.
