At the time our repoit of last Wednesday morn ing was made up, holders of Cotton were very firm at°the advanced rates then quoted, and they have >ince been endeavoring to obtain still higher prices; hut buyers have in but few instances complied with their demands, and tire market Iras, conse quently, remained in a rather inactive state. The sales of Wednesday amounted to 3000 bales, and generally at very full prices. On Thursday buyers j showed very little disposition to operate, unless ■ holders would relax something in their demands, ' but the latter being unwilling to do so, sales were only effected to lire extent of some 2000 bales. — Yesterday the sales again amounted to about 2000 bales, but there was no goncral demand, and the market may be said to close quite dull at our pre vious quotations, though, as far as we are advised, holders yet continue pretti firm. Most of the sales have been of Loui-ffana and Mississippi Cottons, and the stock on sale of these descriptions, there fore, continues very light, as tire receipts are de creasing rapiuly. Lhere is still a goad supply on the Levee. We are not advised of any further sales on plantation. Several vessels have gone up the to load for northern ports on planters’ ac count Havana Sugars are without change in prices, and extremely dull. : Molasses —The receipts have been light for some days past, while at the same time there has existed a good demand, particularly for parcels in good con dition for shipment to northern ports,and the stock al present on the Levee is quite moderate. The sales of the las: few days have been at our former quotations—say 18 a 19 cents per gallon. These prices are firmly sustained,"and the market seems tending to a further advance. The only transac tion on plantation which has come to our knowl edge, is a lot of 30,000 gallons, above the city, at 14 cents. We still quote 14 a 15 cents, the latter being the price asked for lots below the city. Flour —In our report of Wednesday morning last, we represented the market as having closed i on the evening previous at S 3 874 a 3 94 for super fine. Since then there has been a fair enquiry for j export, in ad lit ion to the usual demand for con sumption, and several sales have neen made lor England and the West Indies. The prevailing rates have been S 3 90 a 3 94, though some sales have heeu made at $3 87 4- We still quote at 3 874 : a 3 94, remarking that most of the sa.es at the lat- j ter price have bee- for parcels lined and ready for shipment, or on tune. The receipts of the last 3 days amount to about 8090 barrels, and the stock unsold is now reduced to a very moderate quantity. Bacon —Several large parcels received recently are for shipment to other ports, but the stock left j on sale is ample, considering the very limited de mand, and we lin 1 it nece-sary s ightly to reduce j our quotations for Hams and Shoulders —Sides are ! most in demand and maintain former rates. Jyird —Very little has neon received during the last few days, and the stock on sale is small. Good parcels are in active demand at 94 a 10 cts, and some holders refuse the highest figures for lots of very prime quality. Coffee —Supplies of Havana continue to arrive freely, an 1 the prime qualities continue to meet with a good demand at 9£ a cents. Some su perior parcels command a little more. Inferior to middling descriptions are rather dull at 9 a 9$ cts. Rio is in only moderate demand, but the stock is becoming light and former prices are maintained. We still quote at a 11 cents. Whiskey —We still quote Cincinnati Rectified at 24 cents per gallon, Common 21 cents. The mar ket is very dull, and prices lending to a further decline. I know of no other marks, as Thave owned him but a short time previous to his elope ment. He is fond of music, and is remarkable for his expertness in keeping time with it bv means of j two small paddles or sticks, which he uses in one hand between his fingers. The above named negro left me in Baldwin coun county, Ga., in July, 1837, and has been seen since in the lower part of Jones county, and is probably now lurking about Macon, Augusta, or Charleston, S.
