Gallighan’s Pills, though uslful for all

bile in the stomach, are more particularly intended

strengthen and give tone to the stomach and bow
els, and create a new and healthy action through
out the system. They produce a natural and pci- j
mnnent appetite ; they defend the system agaimt j
new or subsequent attacks of the disease; they ;
assist the various operations of nature by cleansing :
the system of all vitiated, corrupt and acrid humois, ,
and thus invigorate and reanimate the whole name. :
Possessing a purgative quality, they cannot lemain i
in the bowels to produce such other diseases as I
often follow the injudicious treatment of the fever i
and ague. They are composed entirely of vegeta- j
hie matter, and may he taken ! y persons of both ,
sexes and of all ages, without the least danger of
unpleasant consequences, la line, the public are |

mable virtues, which arc requisite not only to ar
rest, but to eradicate and destroy the last seeds of
this most distressing malady" of the human family.
The proprietors solemnly pledge themselves that
they do not contain a particle of minerals in any i
shape or form, but are composed entirely of simple
vegetable substances , which cither separately or
combined, and without regard to sex or age, are
perfectly harmless in their effects upon the human
system.

rgMHS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
A long known, and used with such unpan alleled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human S3'stem is such that it in variably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable “ills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success which has attended it through all of its
trying circumstances, namely, “five days,” —the
same success which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by 31. Chevetes, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wauenotht, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Us known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an a most
incredible extent tiie children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in
dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt
j at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promhe to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “ait of its com
position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
witk, I may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers.
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisizedof the deed given by Wabenoshe, to
M. CheveretjWhen he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article lor im
mediate use.

HEADACHE, SICK OR NERVOUS.
The extraordinary reputation that Dr. Spohn’s
remedy for this distressing compaint is every day
gaining is certainly a matter of much astonishment.
That so m tch suffering should have existed forages
without any discovery of an effectual preventive, or
cure,is truly a subject of much regret but Dr. S.
now assures the public lhat such a remedy has been
invented as will convince the most credulous. The
principles on which it acts are simple and plain. It is
an a milled fact lhat this comp aim, whether called
Sick Headache, or Nervous Headache, arises prim
arily from the stomach—those who think they have
the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this
organ, the stomach, is the first cause, that th > sys
tem has become vitiated or debilitated, through the
stomach, and that only through the same channel
must they expect s restoration of the natural and
healthy functions of the system. This object, Dr.
Spohn’s remedy is eminently calculated to attain.
The truth of this position cannot lie controverted,
and the sooner sufferers with the headache become
convinced of it, the sooner will their suffering end
in restoration of health, Dr. Spohn pledges his
professional reputation on this fact. Tne remedy

1 1 iHESE Pilis are no longer among those ol doubt-
I- ful utility. They have passed away from the
hundreds that are daily launched upon the tide of
experiment, and now stand before the public as
high in reputation, and as extensively employed in
all parts of the United States, the Canadas, Texas
Mexico, and tire West Indies, as any medicine that
has ever been prepared for the relief of suffering
man. They have been introduced wherever it was
found possible to carry them ; and there are but
few towns that do not contain some remarkable
evidences of their good effects. The certificates
that have been presented to the propiietor exceed
twenty thousand! upwards of five hundred of
which are from regular practising physicians, win/
are the most competent judges of their merits.
Often have the cures performed by this medicin
been the subject of editorial comment, in virion
newspapers and journals; and it may with truth be
asserted, tint no medicine of the kin 1 has ey/er re
ceived testimonials of greater value thin are at
tached to this.
They are in general use as a family medicine
and there are.thousands of families who declare they
re never satisfied until they have a supply always
on hand.
They have no rival in curing and preventing
Biliious Fevers, Fever and Ague, Dyspepsia, Liver
Complaints, Bick Headache, Jaundice, Asthma,
Dropsy, Rheumatism, Enlargement of the Spleen,
Piles, Cholic, Female Obstructions, Heartburn,
Furred Tongue, Nausea, Distension of the Stomach
and Bowels, Incipient Diarrhoea,Flatulence,Habitu
al Costiveness, Loss of Appetite, Blotched or Sallow
Complexion, and in cases of torpor of the bowels,
where a cathartic or aperient is needed They are
exceedingly mild in their operation, producing
neither nausea, griping nor dehilitv.
The following was forwarded to Dr. Peters, by a
highly respecrable Planter of Wake County, No
; Ca ,March 3d, 1838:
Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By requestor your agent,
| Mr. Harrison, I send you a few lines respecting the
almost miraculous effects of your piPs; and 1 would
add, that you may make use ol them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper, I
speak of their merits from experience,as 1 and my
family have taken upwards of thirty boxes in three
years; and so great aw the benefits wo have receiv
ed from them in general, that 1 would rather pur
chase them at ten dollars a box than have my house
without them. 1 will not enumerate the afflictions
they have relieved us of; but I can assure }ou they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
j b.as fully proved to me that your medicine is asirn-
I pie purifier of the system, and therefore equally
the enemy of every disease, i will mention one
case. J have a sister who had been for a long pe
l Hod sc 1 erely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
1 was brought by it to the very verge of the grave.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
I that money could procure; but all their efforts to
; restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we all consid
| ered her immediate death as inevitable. By good
j fortune, however, as she was in this situation, cx
j pectmg every day to be her last, your pills were
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were tlicir effects that three doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she was
I perfectly restored to health. This ease, 1 and all
J who were witness of it, (but more especially the
j suffering party,) considered to be the next thing to
I miraculous; and yet 1 could mention many more
of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
were equally successful in rescuing the patients
j from the jaws of death. Need I add that the popu
larity of your medicine amounts to enthusiasm in
this section of the country ? But this 1 presume
j you know from the immense quantity you dispose
jof I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its general use, I never heard an individual complain
; of its effects. My residence is 12 miles from Lai
eigh, on the road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
i timents of regard, your ob’t servant.
I A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters. —Sir—For upward* of fifteen
months, 1 have been ciueily afiliclcd with Fever
and Ague; and during the time could find nothing —
though 1 had applied to every thing that gave me
i any thing like permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, by one
i of our best ph} sicians, and I am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that 1 had scarcely used
i two boxes when 1 found that they had restored me
| to perfect health. Since then, various members of
: my family have used them with equal success—
-1 and consequently I feel it my duty to apprise jou
: of the fact, and to request of you to publish this
; certificate, as I am anxious to add my public testi
-1 mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un
t rivalled medicine. Respectfully yours,
THEODORE JAMES.

your pills —four of which I administered, with
such immediate happy effect that in a few minutes
I my patient was at ease, and out of danger. This
