The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF
FAMILIES.
DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
! does not belong to the family of quack medicines; (
for the reason that the component parts are made :
known to the faculty, or any one else that may \
wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them |
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx- j
lously looked for, some one in almost the extreme i
North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting tc |
be made from the stalk, a thing not more ansutu
than for one to offer meal from the corn stalk, to
say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
1 Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, he holds hknself bound, and in honor pledg
ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they
profess to be, and will do for otheis what they
have done for such as mav have used them ; as
.his is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will
1 doubtless be valuable information to families to
‘ know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as tne Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hapatine, or active principle, and w hen used
as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
system in much better condition than the other
kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It bas
j long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
ascertaineJ tnat mey coniameo alterative and diu
retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
; they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they
j justly do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the
1 day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be ic
his city. We all know something aoout this.

The most peculiar virtue of tbe “Cinq Jours,”
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to

VOUS AND SICK HEAD ACHE, has the sal is
facuon to make known, thai be ha* a remedy which
by removing the causes cures effectually and perma
nently this distressing complaint. There are many

sures them that ibey are mistaken, and labouring
under distress w hich tney might not only alleviate,,
but actually eradicated by the use >f hu remedy.
It is the result of scientific research, and is entirely

HEADACHE, SICK OR NERVOUS.
The extraordinary reputation that Dr. Spohn’a
remedy for this distressing corapainl u every day
gaining is certainly a matter of much astonishment.
That so m ich suffering should have existed for age*
without any discovery of an effectual preventivj~or
cure, is truly a subject of much regret but Dr. S.
now assnres the public that such a remedy has been
invented as wall convince the most credulous. The
principles on which it acts are simple and plain, it is
an a muted fact that this complaint, whether called
Sick Headache, or Nervous Headache, arises prim
arily from tbe stomach —those who think ihey have
the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this
organ, the stomach, is the first cause, that
tecn has become vitiated or debilitated, tbiougb the
stomach, and that only through the same channel
must they expects restoration of jhe naiural and
healthy functions ol the system. 1 his object, Dr.
Spohn’s remedy is eminently calculated to aitatn.
Tbe truth of this position cannot b« controverted,
and the sooner sufferers with ihe headache become
convinced of it, the sooner will their surtenng end
in restoration ol health. Dr. Spohn pledges his
professional reputation on this fact. Ine remedy
may be had ot apothecaries generally throughout
the United States.

Dr. Peters —Dear Sir, By requestor your agent,
Mr. Harrison. I send you a few lines respectmg tne
almost miraculous effects ofycurjwi'**; and I would
add, that you may make use oi them, in connection
with my name, in any manner you deem proper. I
speak of their merits from experience, as I and my
family have taken upwards of thirty hexes in three
years; and so great see the benefit* we have receiv
ed from them in general, that I wouid rather pur
chase them at ten dollar* a box tnan have my bouse
without them. I will cot enumerate the aSktiocs
they nave relieved us of; hut I can assure you they
were many, and of very opposite natures, which
has fmly proved to me that your medicine is a sim
ple purifier of the system, and therefore equa.iy
the enemy of every disease. Iwi 1 mention one
case. I have a sister who had teen for a long pe
riod severely afflicted with dropsy in the chest and
was brought by it to the very verge of tne grai e.
She was attended by the most eminent physicians
that money could procure; hut all tneir exforts to
restore her to health, or even to mitigate her suffer
ings were fruitless ; and accordingly,we ail consid
ered her immediate deata as inevitable. By gooc
fortune, however, a* she was in this situation, ex
pect ng every day to be her last, your pill* were
introduced into my family, and so speedy and pal
pable were their effects tnat tnree doses visibly re
lieved her, and in less than three months she was
perfectly restored to health. Tms case, I and all
who were witness of it, hut more especially the
suffering parry., considered to he the next tnmg to
miraculous ; and yet I could mention many more
of an equally desperate nature, in which your pills
were equally successful in rescuing the patients
from the jaw* of death. Need 1 add that the popu
larity of you: medicine amounts tc enthusiasm _n
this section of the country ; But this I presume
you know from the immense quantity you disperse
of. I may mention, however, that notwithstanding
its genera. u?e, I never beard an individual comprein
of it; effects. My residence is 12 miles from nas
eign, on tne road to Fayetteville. I am, with sen
timent* oi regard, your ob’t servant.
A. G. BANKS.
To Dr. Peters, —Sir —For upward* of fifteen
months, I have been cruelly afflicted with Fever
and Ague ; and during the time coaid hnd notning—
tnougn I nad applied to every tiling that gave me
any thing .ike permanent relief. At length, how
ever, your pills were recommended to me, ty one
of our best phj skians, and I am most grateful and
happy in being able to add, that I had scarcely used
two boxes w;,en I found that they had restored me
to perfect hea.th. Since then, various members of
my family have used them with equal success—
and consequently I feel it my duty to apprise you
of the fact, and to request of you to publish Inis
certificate, as I am anxious to add my public te*ti
mony to the almost miraculous virtues of your un
rivaled medicine. Kespectfuilv yours,
THEoIXJRE JAMES.
