E E article published below, concerning the 1 i new and popular doctrine advanced by the illustrious Goolicke of Germany, cannot fail of ex- ' cuing a deep and thrilling interest throughout our • QaQ Q j .Translated from the German.] LOUIS OFFON GOELICKE, t of Germany, The Greatestof Human Benefactors. Citizens of North and South America, To Louis Offon Goelicke, M. D., of Germany, 1 [Europe,] belongs the imperishable honor of adding * anew and precious doctrine to the science of medi cine —a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed by many of the faculty, (of which he is a valuable member,) he proves to be as well founded In truth as any doctrine of Holy Writ—adoctrine, upon the verity of wnich are suspended the lives of millions of our race, and which he boldly challenges his op posers to refute, viz: Consumption is a disease al ways occasioned by a disordered state of Vis Vitrc (or Life Principle j of the human body: QQf* often «ecretly lurking in the system for years before there is the least complaint of the Lungs —and which may be as certainly, though not so quickly, j cur® J, as a common co.d or a simple headache. An j invaluably precious doctrine this, as R imparts an } important lesson to the apparently healthy of both sexes, teaching them that this insidious foe may be an unobserved inmate of their clayey houses” even while they imagine themselves secure from ts attacks, teaching them that the great secret in the art of preserving health is to pluck out the disease when in the blade, and not wait till the full grown ear. This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled to youi unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude ul a world, for tiie invention of his matchless Sanative, —whose healing hat may justly claim for it such a title, since it has so signally triumphed over our great common enemy , Consumption, both in the first and last stages, —a medicine which has 1 thoroughly filled the vacuum in the Materia .Medic a, and thereby proved itself the Conqueror of Phy sic ians.r?., —a medicine, for which all mankind will have abundant cause to bless the beneficent Land of a kind Providence, —a medicine whose wondrous virtues have been so glowingly pourtray ed even by s one of our clergy, in their pastoral visits to tee sick chamber ; by which means they often become the happy instruments of changing de sponding into hope, sickness into health, and sad of friends into joy fulness 3QQ 3 9 GOELICKE'S MATCHLESS SANATIVE, A medicine of more vaiue to man than the vast mines of Austria, or even the united treasures of | ear globe,—a medicine, which is obtained equally from the vegatahle, animal and mineral kingdoms, and thus possesses a threefold power,—a medicine, which, tliougu designed as a remedy for consump tion solely, is po=.sessed of a mysterious influence over many diseases of the human system, —a medi cine, which begins to be valued by physicians, who are daily witnessing its astonishing cures of many whora they had lesigned to the grasp of the Insa tiable Grave. DOSE of the Sanative, for adults, one drop; for children,a half-drop; and for infants, a quarter drop ; the directions explaining the manner of ta king a half or a quarter drop. Price —Three and one-third rix dollars'' p r half ounce. German coin value 75 cents. Q?Q § Q A certificate from three members of the Medical Profession in Germany, in Europe. We, tue undersigned, practitioners oi medicine in Germany, are well aware that, by our course, we may forfeit the friendship of some ol the (acui ty, but not of its benevolent members, who are un influenced by sc ; fish motives, though we shall refrain from an expression of our opinion, either of the soundness or unsoundness of Dr. Goelick's new doctrine, we are happy to say that we deem hi* Sanative too valuable not to be generally known—for what our eyes behold and our ears hear, we must believe. We Hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis (men Goo lick first came before the German public, as the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a new medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt. believing and openly pronouncing him to be a ba'O impostor ai.d the prince of quacks, but, on hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it and for it we were induced, from motives ot curi osity merely, to make trial of its reputed virtues upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the expense of self-interest) publicly to acknow ledge it' etficacy in curing not only consumption, but other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore believed to be incurable. Our contempt lor the discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed uo in our utter astonishment at these unexpected results- and, as amends for our abuse of him, wo do frankly confess to the world, that we believe lam a philanthropist, who does honor to the profes sion, and to our countiy, which gave him birth. The recent adoption of this medicine into some o our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty that it performs all promises. It needed not om e«timony, for wherever it is used it is its own best winess. HERMAN ETMULLER, at. d. WALTER VAN GAULT, m. d. ADOLPHUS WERNER, m. d.
