1 \ man. whose name we could not learn, was , vCt i with a broken arm. pjniel (davit, engraver, swam out. I Several cartrnen, among-them we ror ogre zed p a vid Terry, John W. Butler, Charles Rock. I Stackpole, and Peter Simonds. saved thein gnjvcs and horses, i'his dreadiitl loss of lile was occasioned by ! t | ic refraclionary conduct of the insane man, who I V as refusing to go with his keeper. His resis tance drew a crowd which blocked up the pas time® until the mass of people and carts became too heavy for the draw. Officer Hinman, the m omcnt the draw- gave may, was endeavoring m disperse the crowd. A large number of the citizens continued their search for the bodies unlii dark. Several missing persons are supposed to be numbered among the ![ dead. Fchtheii Paiiticulaks. —The New A ork 1 Herald says:—We are informed by a gent'eman who camef.om Albany in the boat last evening. | tint ten additional bodies bad been recovered, i [Diking an aggregate of twenty eight deaths by I t \, s shocking accident, This will seem almost a! , incredible number to those who are unacquain- I tt j vvilh the localities, and the circumstances con nected with the fell of the draw. _ The locofoco presses have repeatedly given I circulation to a report that Gen. Harrison has I been seen wearing the black cochaffe as a badge | federalism. This luc most of the other slang I .gainst that pure minded and brave man, proves | -Ihe false. Gen. H. has given the lie direct to [ this story, by authorizing the editor of the Gin- I cinnati Gazette to say “that as a private citizen I wore the black cockade ; but as an officer [ of the army ho once wore a black rose with an , i-le in the centre, which is the national cockade, an J has ever been worn as such by naval and military officers, and civil migistrates. When in t l ]g ari iiy Gen. Harrison wore this cockade, as ,ras prescribed, and would have been li.ffilc to a reprimand if he had omitted to do so,” Tnk Ar.nF.nT Boxnkt. —Hast autumn, when P lace Albert was on a visit preliminary to the j Prilish court, the young Queen and he used ire- ‘ fluently to wander amongst the shady-wooded | walks of Windsor. On one occasion, on relur-1 ning, her bonnet was slightly bent back round j i its front; the Prince, it appears had been thinking more of the woman than of the Queen, as a gal- ■ Hnl knight should, and had in some pressing at- I teulions to the Queen, committed a slight tres pass upon her millinery. The young ladies of the court perceived at once the slight derangement, but were delighted with the improvement, and immediately as soon as etiquette permitted, hurri ed to theit milliners, gave orders for the new fash ion of bonnets with turned back fronts, and se cured their rnyal mistress in her future lil’ie wan derings from betraying appearances —for where ail were alike there could be no suspicion of par- j tirularity. Such was the origin ol the Albert Bonnet, and so attractive and becoming in the ■ fashion in the bright eyes of young ladies— . that, like its origin, is now almost universal. > COMMERCIAL.
