QQQ Q Q [Translated from the German.] LOUIS OFFON GOELICKE, of Germany , i The Greatest or Human Benefactors Citizens of North and South America, To Louis Offon Goelicke, M. D., of Germany [Europe,] belongs the imperishable honor of adding a new and precious doctrine to the sconce of medi ec j nc —a doctrine which, though vehemently opposed oy many of the faculty, (of which he is a valuable member,) he proves to be as well founded in truth as any doctrine of Holy Writ —adoctjne, upon the verity of which are suspended the lives of millions of our race, and which he boldly challenges his op posers to refute, viz: Consumption is- a disease al ways occasioned by a disordered state of Vis Vibe (or Life Principle) of the human body: (Q* often secretly lurking in the system for years before there is the least complaint of tire Lungs ./J}—and which may be as certainly, though nut so quickly, cured, as a common cold ora simple headache. I This illustrious benefactor of man is also entitled to youi unfeigned gratitude, and the gratitude of a world, for the invention of his inatHtlkss Sanative, —whose healing liat may justly ci-tm ior it such a title, since it has so signally triumphed over our great common enemy, Consumpt ion, both in the first and last stages, —a mcdicinp which lias thoroughly tilled the vacuum in the Materia Medica, and thereby proved itself the QU/’ Conqueror of Phy tic iansjff) —a medicine, for which [all mankind will have abundant cause to bless the beneficent hand of a kind Providence, —a medicine whose wondrous virtues have been so glowingly pourtray cd even by s nne erf our clergy, in their pastoral visits to tee sick chamber ; by which, means they often become the happy instruments off hanging de sponding into hope, sickness into health, and sad of friends into joyfulncss ! £} Q 3 5 ! 9 GOELICKE'S MATCHLESS SA NATIVE, A medicine of more value to man than the vast of Austria, or even the united treasures of our globe, —a medicine, which is obtained equally from the vegatable, animal and mineral kingdoms, and thus possesses a three-fold power,--a medicine, which, thouga designed a» a remedy for consump tion solely, is possessed of a mysterious influence over many diseases of the human system, —a medi cine, which begins to be valued by physicians, who are daily witnessing its astonishing cures of many whom they had resigned to the grasp of the Insa tiable Grave. We, the undersigned, practitioners of medicine In Germany, are well aware that, by our course, we may forfeit the friendship of some of the facul- Q ty, but not of its benevolent members, who are un influenced by sellish motives. r i hough wc shall refrain from an expression of our opinion, cither of the soundness or unsoundness of Di. Goclick’s new doctrine, we are happy to say that wc deem his Sanative too valuable not to be generally known—for what our eyes behold and our cars hear, we must believe. We Hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Often Goelick first came before the German public, as the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a new medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be a base impostor ar d the prince of quacks. But, on hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it tad for it, we were induced, from motives of curi osity merely, to make trial ot its reputed virtues upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and wc now deem it our bounden duty (even at the expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge its efficacy in curing not only consumption, but other fearful maladies, which we have heretofore believed to be incurable. Our contempt for the discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected results; and, as amends for our abuse of him, we J do frankly confess to the world, that we believe i him a philanthropist, who docs honor to the proses- ; sicn, and to our countiy, which gave him birth. The recent adoption of this medicine into some ; o our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty that it performs all promises. It needed not our estimony, for wherever it is used it is its own best wi ness. HERMAN ET.DULLER, m. d. WALTER VAN GAULT, m. d. ADOLPHUS WERNER, m. d.
