We, the undersigned, practitioners ot medicine In Germany, are well aware that, by our course, we may forfeit the friendship ot some of the facul o tv, but not of its benevolent members, who are un influenced by seltish motives. Though we shall refrain from an expression of our opinion, cither of the soundness or unsoundness of Dr. Goelick s new doctrine, we are happy to say that we deem lus Sanative too valuable not to be generally known—for what our eyes behold and our ears hear, we must believe. . We Hereby sta e, that when Dr. Louis Often Goelick tirst came before the German public, as the pretended discoverer of a new doctrine and a new medicine, we held him in the highest con tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be a base impostor u d the prince of quae ks. but, on hearing so much said about the Sanative, against it an 1 for it, we were induced, from motives of cun o*iir merely, to make trial of its reputed virtues upon a number of our most hopeless patients; and we now deem it our bounden duty (even a e expense of self-interest) publicly to acknowledge its efficacy in curing not only consumption but other fearful maladies, which we have hereiofoic believed to be incurable. Our contempt foi the discoverer of this medicine was at once swallowed up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected results - and, as amends for our abuse of him, we d 0 fmnkly confess to the world, that we believe | him a philanthropist, who docs honor to die profes skn, and to our countiy, which gave him birth. The recent adoption of this medicine into some o our European hospitals, is a sufficient guaranty that it performs all promises. Its operation upon the human system is such that it invariably' acts like a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain common and disagreeable “ills the flesh is heir to.” This prize obtains its own name from the certain success liich has attended it through all of its trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,”—the same su .ess which followed it in a Northern lati tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated Indian Chief Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst he, with others was pursuingthe lucrative Fur bu siness in the North-west with the Indians.— \\ abenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable success throughout his two tribes. Its known and valued virtues have already enriched to an almost, incredible extent the children of this warlike prince, not only by' actual sale of the article itself to in dividuals, but by parting with copies of his receipt at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although free to use it in their respective tribes, which places it in the hands of every Indian xvho rely with, I may say, religious confidence on its cura ble powers Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can be anglisized of the deed given by Wabenoshe, to M. In many hun dred certified cases which has been made public, and in almost ever} species of disease to which the human frame is liable, the happy effects of MOFFAT’S LIFE PILLS AND PHENIX BIT TERS have been groiefully and publicly ac- Inowledged by the persons benefiitted, and who were previously unacquainted with the beamihilly philosophical principles upon which they are compounled, and upon which they subsequently act. The LIFE MEDICINES recommend themselves in diseases ot every form and descripiion. Their first operation is to loosen from the coats of the stomach and bowels, the various impurities and crudities eon lamly settling around them ; and to remove the hardened faeces which collect 1 convolusions of the smallest intestines. Other medicines only partially cleanse these, and leave such collected masses behind as to produce habitu al costiveiu ss with 111 its train oi evils, or in a sud den diarrhoea, with its eminent dangers. This fact is vyell known to ail regular anatomists, who ex amine the human bowels after death ; and heme the prejudice of those well informed men against quack meilinnes—or medicines prepared and her ladcd to the public hv ignorant p< rsons. Ihe se cond effect of the Life Medicines is to cleanse the kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lungs, the healthful action of which entirely depends m>on the regularity of the urinary organs. The blood, w hich takes its red color from the agency of the liver and the lungs before it passes into the hea t, being thus purified by them and nourished by food coming from a clean stom ach, courses freely ih.ougb the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner ot health in the blooming cheek. Moffat’s Vegetable Life Medicines have been thoroughly attested, and pronounced a sovereign remedy for "yspepsia, Flatulency, Palpitation ot the Heart, Loss oi Appetite, Heart-bore and Head ache, Restlessness, ill-temper, Anxiety, Languor arnl Melancholy, Costiveness, Diarrhoea, Cholera, Fevers of all kinds, Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsies of all kind, Gravel, Worms, Asthma and Consump tion, Scurvy, Ulcers, Inveterate bores, Scorbutic Eruptions and Bad Complexions, Eruptive com plaints, Sallow, Cloudy, and other disagreeable Complexions, Salt Rheum, Erysipelas, Common Colds and influenza and various other complaints which afflict the humar frame. In fever and ague, particularly, the Life Medicines have been most eminently successful; so much so that in the Fever and Ague districts, Physicians almost uni versally prescribe them. All lhai Mr. Moffat requires of his patient is to be particular in taking the Life Medicines strictly according to the directions. It is not by a news paper nonce, or any tiling that he himself may say in their lavo", that he hopes to gain credit. It is alone by the resuf of a fair :rial.
