Radical Cure oMlerniaor Rupture, by Dr.
Chase’s improved Surgeons’ Trusses.
ri’DlE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
j store of Messrs. J. J, Robertson & Co., for the
i treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of those
ustly celebrated instruments, lie has now used
them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons wuo have been radi
cally eared, of this truly distressing and dangerous
affection, by the use ol these Trusses, besides many
ethers who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually’ ventured upon by’ those who wearother
trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced hy Hie foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and us furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fol.owing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city.
Ali must admit of the radical cure of hernia,
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the office, and ali ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who arc laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from someresponsi'
ble person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments are of all sizes, and applicable
to every variety of reducible rupture,

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF

DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
does not belong to the family of quack medicines;
for tfie reason that the component parts are made
known to the faculty, or any one qjse that may
wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously looked for, some one in almost the extreme
Noith has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting U
be made from the stalk, a thing not more aosutu
than for one to offer meal from the com stalk, to
say nothing of the difficulty of raising tiie Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Miles, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg
ed to prove by their use, that they are all that they
profess to be, and will do for otlicis what they
have done for such as mav have used them; as
i .his is a vegetable oi great use, and value, it will
I doubtless be valuable information to families to
know that the Y'ellow arc just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
i of the hapatiue, oi active principle, and when used
i as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
j system in much better condition than the other
j kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to children, and
how they then wished for a substitute, it has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
aicertainej that .aey coniameu alterative and diu
retic properties. The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
! they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they
justly do the one thousand and one cure-alls of the
day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa.e anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in
‘ his city. We ali know someliung aoout uus.

ANTI-BALSAMIC CONOR.P.HtEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days,
f 8 MIIS incomparable and invaluable remedy so
-I long known, and used with such unparralleled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 y’eats, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and disagreeable “ills the flesh is heir to,”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success Inch has attended it through ali of its
trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,”—the
same su .ess which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Chevcres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabewothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians. —
Wabenoshe prized highly and use it with invariable
success throughout iris two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by actual sale of the article itself to in-
I dividuals, but by paiting with copies of his receipt
at enormous prices to lire Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
position until lie sleeps with his fathers,” although
free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it in the hands of every Indian who rely
with, 1 may say, religious confidence on its cura
ble powers
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
be anglisizcd of the deed g»>en by’ Wabenoshe, to
M.Cheveret, when he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

The extraordinary reputation that Dr. Spohn’s
remedy lor this distressing compaint is every day
gaining is certainly a matter ol much astonishment,
That so ranch suffering should have existed for ages
w ithout any discovery of an effectual preventive, or
cure, is truly a subject of much regret but Dr. S.
now assures the public that such a remedy has been
invented as will convince the most credulous. 'The
principles on w hich it acts are simple and plain. It is
an a milted tact that this complaint, whether called
Sick Headache, or Nervous Headache, arises prim
arily from the stomach —those who think they have
the Nervous Headache may rest assured that this
organ, the stomach, is the first cause, that th“ sys

stomach, and that only through the same channel
must they expects restoration ol ihe natural and
healthy functions ol the system. 'This object, Dr
Spohn’s remedy is eminently calculated lo attain.
The truth of this position cannot be controverted,

The LIFE MEDICINES recommend themselves
in diseases ol every form and description. Their
first operation is to loosen from the coals ol the
stomach and Rowels, the various impurities and

remove the hardened fasces which collect
convojusions of the smallest intestines. Other
medicines only partially cleanse these, and leave
such collected masses behind as to produce liabim

is well known lo ad regular anatomists, who ex

for barrenness had been ever thought of, or at least
made public; and all th ise then in use for the
restoration of the decayed virile powers were found
lo be of but little avail. Thus, all nostrums adver
tised for barrenness or the cure of impoteney, but
Dr. Mngnin’s, are mere catchpenny humbugs*
which would never have been thought of out lor
the appearance and great celebrity of the LUCINA
CORDIAL As no counterfeit of the name is at
present 111 circulation, it may in general be a suffi
cient caution forth® purchaser lo ask tor the Lucina
Cordial, but as further assurance, it would be as
w ell to note t lat its narn , Lucina Cordial, or Elixir
of Love, is stamped in the glass of each bottle—the
combined arms of France and the United States
are on the outward envelope—that a Fleur de Lis
is printed on the accompanying directions, and
beautifully embossed on the show-bills hanging in
the stores of those who have the genuine article
for sale.
The celebrity of the Lucina Cordial being such
as it is, it is scarcely necessary to add that it ts the
only efficient remedy for barrenness, and the resto
ration of decayed virile powers ever known; and
that in the cure of Fluor Aibus, Gleet, obstructed,
difficult or painful Menstruation, the incontinence
ol the mine, or the involuntary discharge thereof,
its superiority over every other medicine is not on

PETERS’ VEGETABLE PILLS.
ri THESE Pills are no longer among those of
X doubiful utility. 'They have passed away
from the hundreds that are daily launched upon
the tide of experiment, and now stand before the
public as high in reputation, and as extensively
employed in all parts of the United States, the Can
adas, Texas, Mexico, and the West indies, as any
n.edicine that has ever been prepa.ed for the relief
of suffering man. '1 hey have been int.oduced
wherever it was found poss.ble to carry them ; and
there are but few- towns that do not contain some
remarkable evidences of their good effects. The
certificates that have been presented to the proprie
tor exceed twenty thousand ! upwards of five hun
dred ol w hich are from regular praeffring physicians,
who are the most competent judges of iheir merits.
Often have the cures performed by this medicine
been the subject of editorial comment in various
newspapers and journals ; and it may with truth
be asserted, that no me licine of the kind has ever
received testimonials of greater value than are at
tached to this.
, They are in general use as a family medicine,
and there are thousands of families who declare
they are never satisfied unless they have a supply
always on hand.
They have no rival in curing and preventing
Bilious fevers. Fever and Ague, Dyspepsia, Liver

HERMITAGE EXTRACT.—This lately in
