A certificate from three members of the Medical
Profession in Germany, in Europe.
We, the undersigned, practitioners ot medicine
hi Germany, are well aware that,; ay our course,
we may forfeit the friendship of sc|ie of the facul
ty but not of its benevolent members, who are un
iulluenced by selfish motives. Tbftugh we shall
refrain from an expression of our|opimon, either
of the soundness or uusoundness 04 Ur. Goelick s
new doctrine we arc happy to say that we deem
his Sanative too valuable not tc be generally
known —for what our eyes bclioli and our ears
hear, we must believe. i ,
\\ e hereby sta e, that when j r. Louis Often
Goelick first came before the Gcf tan public, as
the pretended discoverer of a new detrine and a
new medicine, we held him in tii‘ highest con
tempt, believing and openly pronouncing him to be
a base impostor .n d the prince ot But, on
hearing so much said about the San; i ye, again.-t it
ani lor it, we were induced, from m, lives of curi
os it v merely, to make trial of its ; iputed virtues
upon a number of our most hopeles.-, patients; and
we now deem it our bounden duty (even at the
expense of self-interest) publicly t acknowledge
its efficacy in curing not only cor umption, but
other fearful maladies, which we h; ye heretofore
believed to be incurable. Oiu coigerapt for the
discoverer of this medicine was at ot:e swallowed
up in our utter astonishment at these unexpected
results; and, as amends for our abufie of him, we
do frankly confess to the world, th 1 we believe
him a philanthropist, who docs honoil o the profes

The recent adoption of this meduwne into some

that it performs all promises. It iSeded not our

Radical Cure of Hernia or Rupture, by Dr.
Chase ? s Improved .Surgeons* Trusses.
rSAHE subscriber has opened an office, at the Drug
store of Messrs. J. J. Robertson & Co., for the
treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these
uslly celebrated instruments. He has now used
them far nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid,
he could name several persons who ha ve been radi
cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous
afl’ection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many
others who are in a fairway of being entirely re
lieved. The following is the language of the com
mittee ol the Philadelphia Medical Society' on the
Radical Cure of Hernia.
“ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected
the permanent and accurate retention of the in
testines in every case of Hernia observed by the
committee, without material inconvenience to the
patient, and often under trials more severe than
are usually ventured upon by r those who wearuther
trusses ; trials that would be imprudent with any
other apparatus known to the committee.”
“ The committee are induced by the foregoing
conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in
struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of
the profession, as the best known means of me
chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the
highest chances of radical cure.”
The fohowing is from the Southern Medical and
Southern Journal, published in our own city.
and that Dr. Chase’s Trusses are decidedly the best
yet invented to effect the object.”
Persons from a distance can have the instruments
applied, upon application at the otlice, and all ne
cessary information given to enable them to adjus
it themselves. The poor, who are laboring under
this afflicting complaint, will be treated gratuitous
ly upon presenting a certificate, from someresponsi*
bie person, of their pecuniary disability.
The instruments arc of all sizes, and applicable
to every variety of reducible rupture,

TO THE FACULTY AND HEADS OF
FAMILIES.
DR. MILES’ COMPOUND EXTRACT OF
TOMATO —a substitute for Calomel, and
does not belong to the family of quack medicines;
for the reason that the component parts arc made
known to the faculty, or any one else that may
wish to know, by any of the agents keeping them
for sale. Since this discovery so long and anx
iously looked for, some one in almost the extreme
North has advertised a Tomato Pill, purporting tc
be made from the stalk, a thing not more aosuiu
than for one to offer meal from tire corn stalk, to
say nothing of the difficulty of raising the Tomato
so far North.
Dr. Mil.es, of Cincinnati, is the proprietor of the
Tomato Pills (proper) for the great benefits of
which, he holds himself bound, and in honor pledg
ed to pro\ e by their use, that they are all that they
profess tc be, and will do for otheis what they
have done for such as mav have used them; as
.his is a vegetable of great use, and value, it will
doubtless be valuable information to families to
know that the Yellow are just doubly as valuable
as the Red Tomato, and produces twice as much
of the hap Mine, 01 active principle, and when used
as a daily vegetable will be found to keep the
system in much better condition than the other
kind ; many will recollect with what trembling
anxiety calomel has been given to rhildren, and
how they then wished for a substitute. It has
long been known that the Tomato contained ca
thartic principles, but not until of late was it
retic properties. 'The Faculty embrace and use
the preparation most cheerfully, for the reason that
they know what it is Were it a patent mystery,
they would be bound to reject the medicine, as they
justly do the one tiiousand and one cure-alls of the
day. If you wish to cleanse the system with a
mild, sa.u anti-bilious medicine, use the Tomato
Pill, of which a supply, we learn, will soon be in
lus’city. We ali know something aoout mis.

ANTI-BALSAMIC GONORRHCEAL SOLUTION,
Warranted to cure in Five Days.
r s incomparable and invaluable remedy so
*t l°og known, and used with such unpanalleled
success in the Canadas for the last 30 yeais, ap
pears to need no panegyric. Its operation upon the
human system is such that it invariably acts like
a charm, for the relief and radical cure of a certain
common and uisagrecable ‘fills the flesh is heir to.”
This prize obtains its own name from the certain
success hich has attended it through al! of its
trying c cumstances, namely, “five days,”—the
same su jcss which followed it in a Northern lati
tude still obtains in a more Southern. The formula
or recipe was obtained at great expense, intrigue
and hazard by M. Cheveres, from the celebrated
Indian Chief Wabenothe, or Great Moon, whilst
he, with others was pursuing the lucrative Fur bu
siness in the North-west with the Indians.—
Wabcnoshe prized highly' and use it with invariable
success throughout his two tribes. Its known and
valued virtues have already enriched to an almost
incredible extent the children of this warlike prince,
not only by r actual sale of the article itself to in
| dividuals, but by' parting with copies of his receipt
: at enormous prices to the Chief of every tribe of
Indians in America, with a solemn promise to the
i Great Spirit, never to divulge the “art of its com
' position until he sleeps with his fathers,” although
t free to use it in their respective tribes, which
places it m the hands of every Indian who rely
with, 1 may say, religious coniidence on its cura
ble powers
Below is a copy of the translation as near as it can
i be anglisized oi the deed given by Wabenoshe,to
M.CheveretjWhen he purchased the original recipe,
and had twice assisted the Chief himself through
the tedious manipulatory' process of manufacture.
Few white men would credit the length of time
which is consumed in preparing the article for im
mediate use.

This Medicine,! warnnt by this publication,un
der a penalty of $5,000, not to contain one parti
cle of corrosive preparation. It is purely vegala
blc in its essences. Its first and prominent virtue
is to subdue every'vestige of inflarnation, and then
acts mildly and copiously as a diuretic ; thereby
holding within itself, every requisite virtue, foi
tire subduction of this loathsome malady—and ev
ery regular graduate in medicine, will sustain Hie
assertion, that copious diuresis and reduction of in
flation, are the only two tilings necessary to effect
a sound and radical cure
The most peculiar virtue of the “Cinq Jours,’
is in this, that wherever it alone has been used to
affect a cure, none of those tenacious and disagree •
able consequences which almost invariably results
from the sudden cure of Gonorrhoea, have been
known to obtain such as stricture, hernia, humoi
alis, incontinence, and a swarm of other of the
most loathsome, perplexing, and disagreeable dis
eases, consequent upon erroneous diagnosis and
treatment of Gonorrhoea.
Those affected are requested to call and try for
themselves. If the prescriptions are well follow
ed and fail to cure, the money will in every case be
returned.

HERMITAGE EXTRACT.—This lately in
vented combination of delightful odors, has
[ acquired a just popularity, not only by reason ql
the strength and delicacy, but of the extraordina
ry duration of its perfume. Whilst the strength of
many other extracts and essences is almost as eva
nescent as the bloom of the flowers from which
they are derived, the Hermitage retains its fra
grance for an indefinite length of time, and is
scarce to be removed from the garment on which it
is poured, by washing; hence it i* probably the
cheapest and most delightful perfume of our labora
tories.
Also, Cologne, Lavender. Orange, Florida and
Rose Waters, in great varietv. For sale t v
