I PERHAPS there is nothing mor° calculated to disgust tne public eye than the innumerable advertisements of nostrums that are constantly ap pearing in the public prints. All are ready to ex claim, our souls are sick, our ears are pained with every day’s reports ol ills and specifics. This state ol the public mind would seem to forbid any person of delicate mind from sending forth any new dis coveries in medicine, lo the trial of the public.— Still, motives oi delicacy should not prevent us from making known real discoveries, which we are con fident will benefit our fellow men. Tins latter consideration has prompted rhe author of these hit lets to make them known, fie knows they are high ly efficacious, fur he himself, his wife, and many friends, have given them a thorough trial. He was himself a confirmed dyspeptic,so much, that even his recollection was gone. By using these bitters he has been restored to health. Mrs. Cosby was troubled for many years, but was restored to health by the use ol these hitters. This has been the case with many of lus fri mis. Mr. Cosby in sending forth this advertisement, addresses those who know him. He has been for many years a resident ol Augusta at w inch place he can at any time ha consulted about the bitters. They are good in all cases ofdiseases of the digestive organs, the symp toms of w hich are indigestion, pain or oppression in the stomach from food, lossoi appetite, flatulen cy, heart hum, giddiness in the head, pain in the | side, shortness of breath, lassitude, general weak- 1 ness, disuit bed sleep, &c The composi ion is en tirely Botanical, an I has proved efficacious when many celebrated medicines had failed. J. J. Robertson & Co., forthe treatment of Hernia or Rupture, by means of these ustly celebrated instruments. He has now- used them for nearly a year, and, did not delicacy forbid, he could name several persons who have been radi cally cured, of this truly distressing and dangerous affection, by the use of these Trusses, besides many others who are in a fairway of being entirely re lieved. The following is the language of the com mittee ot the Philadelphia Medical Society on the Radical Cure of Hernia. “ The instruments of Dr. Chase have effected the permanent and accurate retention of the in testines in every case of Hernia observed by the committee, without material inconvenience to the patient, and often under trials more severe than are usually ventured upon by those who wear other trusses; trials that would be imprudent with any other apparatus known to the committee.” “ The committee are induced by the foregoing conclusions to recommend, in strong terms, the in struments of Dr. Chase to the confidence of the profession, as the best known means of me chanical retention in hernia, and as furnishing the highest chances of radical cure.” The following is from the Southern Medical and Southern Journal, published in our own city. “ All must admit of the radical cure of hernia, and tiaat Dr. Chase’s Trusses aie decidedly the best yet invented to effect tiie object.” Pei sons from a distance can have the instruments applied, upon application at the olhee, and all ne cessary information given to enable them to adjus it the mselves.
