The proposition to issue such j work, ue\oted
the scenerv of Georgia, althoug » novel, will find .
universal favor, andbe i; is by the Edit

which need only be known tocirm-iand the admi- j

Much of the scenery of the Noirih inferior to our
own, but is yet visited by thousands} imply because ,
it has been written sung ani “\‘osi~ed, b} au- I
Ihors and travellers until its beauty has be< ome
universally known and appreciated. Ht is desirable
that attention should be directed : o cjir own resour
ces of picturesque in natural set n«|ry, and w hen j
this is done, our own and Xortliera tourists will i
•peedily render our beautiful tfeWajas immortal as
our language. 1 .
The South is charged with generjl indifference
to the progress of Literature and Ifine Arts; and
probably the stronger foundation fey tac chaigr i>
found in tier inaction in to sos- ;
ter these objects. The publication t;ie piopo--
ed work will it is believed, be t,u effective blow
at the foundation, a step towards thd establishment
of our literary reputation, to which fnd much hon
orable effort is now directed. | .
A third consideration and the.lad which will
now be urged, is the intrinsic vafciejof such publi
cation as “ Georgia Illustrated-”J Jtwulembo- :
dy the representations of the beaytiljil and sublime
in our State scenery, and afford lb s’l, at a trifling
expense, exact pictures of our nricu,i tains, r allies,
cataracts, public buildings, kc., w|bi<|n they may or
may not otherwise behold, but wh; 1 hj in cither case,
would afford peculiar pleasuie. t
The proposed work will be executed in a style
superior to any similar pictorial '.vo|k in the coun

inent engravers, from original drawing, made ex
pressly for the purpose, by Mr. T ij-ddi-un ilich

eompanied with letter press descriptions, prepared
for the work, and in this depart'ncjat the editor
will secure, as far as possible, tin assistance and
co-operation ot our best writers. lu i-hort, no pains
will be spared to make thd work * ; perfect gem of
the kind, to the end that it may YieJt a welcome

The LIFE MEDICINES recommend themselves
in diseases of every form and description. Their
first operation is to loosen from the coats ol the
stomach and bowels, the various impurities and
crudities con-tanlly settling around them ; ana to
remove the hardened faeces which collect
convolusions of the smallest intestines. Other
medicines only partially cleanse these, and have
such collected masses bt hind as to produce habitu
al cnsiivem ss with 11 its train ofevtls. or inasud

is well known to ail regular anatomists, who ex

kidneys and the bladder, and by tins means, the
j liver and the lungs, the healthful action of which
i entirely depend*upon the regularity of ihe urinary
; organs. The bleed, w hich takes its red color from
■ the agency ol ihe liver and the lungs before it
( .asses into the hen t, being tnu- purified by them
and nourished by loud coming from a clean stom
ach, courses freely ih.ough the veins, renews every
part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the
i banner of health in the blooming cheek.
