| application will be made to the honorable the Inferior
Courts of the counties of Richmond, Burke, Jefferson and
j VV ashington, for leave to construct and build the PLANK
‘ ROAD AND BRANCHES specified in the following Arti
i cles of Agreement and Association, and in conformity to
j the Acts of Assembly of the State of Georgia, approved
j on the 23rd of February, 1850:
GEORGIA—
Those Articles of Agreement and Association witness,
That we, whose names are hereto subscribed, together with
| such otht r persons as may, hereafter, become subscribers
I and stockhob ers, have associated ourselves together for
I the purpose of constructing and laying down a PLANK
i ROAD, from the City of Augusta through the counties of
i Richmond, Burke, Jefferson and Washington; the main
; stem of which will terminate at some point on Brier Creek
! in Burke county, from which two branches will be extend
l sd. Ore branch to terminate at some point in the neigh
-1 j borhood of Bark Camp, in Burke county, and the other via
■ Louisville, in Jefferson county, will terminate at Banders
j ville, in Washington county.
The name of the said Association or Corporation, shall be
• the “ THE AUGUSTA SOUTHWESTERN PLANK ROAD. ’
! There shall be annually elected by the Stockholders of
the said Corporation, not less than three, cr- more than
I seven Directors, to manage the affairs and business of the
i Company, who shall have the power to elect one of their
I number to the President of the said Corporation, as also a
| Treasurer and such other Officers and Agents as may be
j found necessary to carry on the business and operations of
j the said Company. And it shall bo the duty of the said
I President and Directors to cause the construction and
i building of the said Flank Road and Branches to proceed
I as fast as the means at their disposal will allow, and to
j conduct the business and affairs of.the Company with a
! due regard to economy, and in strict accordance with the j
I provisions of such By-Laws us may, from time to time, be j
passed and agreed upon by a majority of the Stockholders*,
