Were not these States all equal members of the Union 7 Was not the war whioh the World advocated, waged with the uole object “to preserve the Union with all the dignity, equality and rights of the several States unimpaired 7” Had not all the States South engaged in the war iu defense of their attempt to separate abandoned that attempt 7— Had they not all resumed their obligations to the Union nnder the Constitution 7 Had not peace been de clared upon that basis 7 Were not all these States then, upon every considers tion of right and juatioe, by all law, hu man and divine, entitled to perfeot equal ity in the Union 7 Were they not most shamefully denied that equality 7 Were they not, by the majority faction in Con gress, treated as conquered provinoee 7 Wsn‘ not their Governor's displaced— the* Legislatures disbanded; their Courts of Justice closed up ; their public Treasuries Hit-zed, and their entire popu lation reduced to a condition as abject as that of the serfs of Russia or Turkey. But was mockery ever more in solent than for one occupying suoh a po sition to announce that “ State Rights and Union” is his “motto 7” The World, in another of its late issues said that the principles of its creed was as far separated from the principles of the Radical creed as ‘ 'Heaven is separa ted from bell I” U this be so, all we have to say in reply is that “the good plaoe” and “the bad place” are surely not so far apart after all, os most of ns hate been taught to be lieve; .Jon 11 The Alabama k Chattanooga a hard time of it to keep owt ruptoy. A abort time ago it win nounoed that the creditors had defarmi ad to fores ft into the Baukrupt court Something of this kind moat be on foot again, aa the Chattanooga creditors of the road have held another meeting and passed resolutions urging the creditors of the road to leave it in the hands of John C. Stanton, and permit him to manage it without harassing him with unnecessa ry and dangerous legislation. They be lieve that the capacity of the road, when entirely developed, will produoe an in- that will enable the company to realize from its resources a sufficient amount of money to enable it to pay the floating debt in full, with interest. The meeting also endorsed the integrity of the present management of the oompany, and eipreaaed the belief that it is their purpose to settle all their liabilities as soon as possible. The Nashville Banner of the 8th, from a gentleman just from Chattanooga, gets a statement in regard to the affairs of the road materially different from the re ports that had previously reached Nash ville. It appears that the rolling stock of the road was not attached, nor were the trains stopped. As to Superinten dent Stanton’s silver-ware, presented by his employes, our informant says that the representative of a St Louis house attempted to attach it, on aocount of fejl indorsement on the paper of the oompa' ny, which was not yet due. The em ployes were just about shipping the sil ver-ware to Hr. Stanton's home in Ron ton ; tha cases containing the silver liad already left the depot before the arrival of the offloers, but a glass case for its protection, boxed up, was attached, silver had never been in it. Altho property to the value of 8100,0 offered to the party instigating an ment, he refused all security but ver, which to all observers seei maliciously sought for, for the inflieting an indignity on and the donors. The al unanthorized by the principals of Louis house, and the matter was arranged through other lawyers. Other attach ments followed, which embarrassed tho operations of the oompany, but which have-not stopped the running of its trains. Mr. Stanton considers the whole matter instigated by malice, and contrary to the wishes, as it is disastrous to the interests of the great bulk of the creditors of the road, and he is confident that with u new and magnificent road, its connections completed, he will be enabled in the oourse of a few months, to commence the liquidation of its indebtedness.
