The crops have been much injured in
this section. A week ago it was thought
that the wheat crop would be fully half
the average, com wa« being cleaned and
looked healthy; but almost incessant
rains for several days have cast a gloom
over the most hopeful. Bright days will
come, however, and we hope for plenty.
From the Giles, Tennessee, Press of
Saturday, we learn of a most extraordi
nary freak of nature in that oounty,
which our ootemoorary claims can be

as it seems an imputation upon the credu
lity of the public. There can, however,
