During the investigation of the oommitiee on proxies, Mr. It. L. Bloomfield,Superintendent of the Athens Manufacturing Company, addressed the meeting. His enthusiasm in behalf of the enterprise knew no bounds, and was equalled only by his statistical argu its for the seme. He stated that this projected road would afford to Athens ana Auguste a direct route to the com mercial emporium of the Wast, whither the spirit of Manufacture had already taken its flight; that the reduction of freigbte in everything pertaining to com merce aud manufacture would be reduced 26 per cent. He commendud the zeal and public spirit ol Atlanta, stating that her enormous facilities of tmnsportutiuu bad indaoed almost every manufacturing oompan/ of the West to establish a branch house in that oity. In the absence of the Committee on nominations. Col McMillan, of HaH- eraham county, addressed the mooting. He represented the people of his county who had subscribed 820 shares, but they were trammelled by restrictions and conditions, that he did not feel justified in voting. He stated that the citizens of his county were enthusiastic for the road until very recently, when it became positively known that the Air Line would be com doing this. ud waited, but I did not see (kpt.
