Tint friends and peqnointaoeea of Capt. ft. D. Myers are rt spectfully invited to attend liis fuuurs! at 4 o'clock, p. m., this day- 14th July— from the residence of the late Patrick Lynch, on (iiluier street. Mia. Amy Mkusiia Loonxy, wife of Morgan H. Looney, formerly of this Slate, dieil of consumption at Fayette- Allle, Ark., on the 2!)th of June last. She was a Miss Black, and wns brought up in Coweta county, Go. About three o’clock yesterday afternoon Capt. Dennis 8. Myers, was taken sud denly ill, and in less breathed his last. Capt. Myers was well known by the older citizens ol Atlanta, he being one of them himself. At the time of his death he was the proprietor of a saloon on Hunter Street, between Whitehall and Broad. Tlic Fountain of Youth. In addition to the many other attmo- vious of which Atlanta can justly boasti we are assured upon tl e highest au;l boat authority, that tbe “fountaiu of perpet ual youth” has been recently found, just outside tbe corporate limits of the city. This is a discovery, in search of which Ponce do Leon spent the best part of his life among the everglades of Florida; and for which, from the days of the Patriarchs old men have sighed in vain. We are not permitted to say more at present in reference to this important discovery, further than announce that certain par ties are actively engaged in getting up a joint stock company for the purpose of buying the laud on which this spring is situated, with a view to improving the grounds, for the benefit of the public generally and themselves in particular. GEORGIA SIpIiESIK COURT. The news of Uie big fight in New Tork between the Irish and Oiangemeu stimulated oar municipal executive early to aeMsd'on yesterday, and by time he fravmtotft anxious to deal oat justice to Orangemen or any other man, who during the pterion* day hud night had disturbed the quiet of the neighborhood, Li^e a well-trained racer- he soon got down to work and man delilah Drcisox •' was called lo books, charged with using profane and vulgar language, and disturb ing the quiet citizens in her part of the town generally. The witnesses stated that it was Delilah's habit to go down the hill regularly every morning and rake np a quarrel with everybody she oould. It was her breakfast, and what was left from that meal she would serve up for dinner. If nobody paid any attention to her she would curse and cavort, raise her dress, display her pedal extremities and em broidered underwear until the ohildren would notice it, and then she would quarrel with them. If the parents of the children corrected them for doing this, she would sail into them for it, and get npart/w that way. Bhe was an awful than an hour he *>*«'WOHOlir One wttHO* -supposed she had more guile in her mouth than the devil himself." This his Honor was con- ntraied to believe from her action iu Court, and after telling her he oould not under- f.taud why she did so, he asked her to pay hint $10 and costs. FRINGE ALBERT TAYLOR exercised the royal prerogative of driving as fast as he wanted to, so he and another negro bod a regular D^rby race with their drays along Decatur street. A po liceman was judge, and when they passed him he dropped a hat as a signal to stop. This they paid no attenton to, when he outran and caught them near Alabama street, just in time to prevent the judges at that end from deciding who was the winner. His Honor is a judge himself, and judged that he would claim the pools, which amounted to $5 and costs. JORDAN ALEXANDER thought he was a relation to Alexander the Great, and was privileged to drive as fast as his male could go. He found Decatur street smooth enough, but that Mayor Hammond was a “rum ’un," and Jordan a hard road to travel with him. The judge decided the race a drawn one, and the oity churned his pools—$5 and costs. rfil< «l in I hr Swprrynv Court, Irr, July Term, 1*11. I. Blue Ridge Circuit 6 2. We item ** Sontliern “ 3 4. HENRY WOOD about six feet high, and ns straight ns an Indian and black os a crow, was passing along the street, when he saw officer Garrison in oharge of a negro wo man whom he had arrested. Having more on liis bauds jast then than he could pro- eed with, h© took out a string and tied Henry'* right hand to his body. This was a fanny mistake, and the negro laughed heartily at ''it, and told Garri son he was left handed. JnmeiL. Rider, of Sag Harbor, L. L, a young man of good family, enlisted da ring the late war in oompany B, 81st regiment New York volunteers. After a time he was discharged at I’ortamouth, Va., where he took up his residence, be- oorne acquainted with Bailie A. Weaver, a daughter of one of the leading citizens of the plaoe, and soon after married her. After living with his yoaug wife four years, he oruelly deserted her and fled to Pennsylvania, where he married another girl, living with her till the anting of 1870, when lie went to tho village of Highland, Ulster county, to work for Charles Wooley. He took apartments at Eli Warring's, where Laura F. Warring, aged 14, resided. Rider paid his ad dresses to her, and being well educated, he soon succeeded in wiuning her afleo- tion, liis attention to her being entirely unknown to her parents. On the 13th oi lost June they resolved to get married clandestinely. On the evening of that day tho bigamist's victim announced that she was going to make a call at a neighbor's, hut met Rider in stead, and with hiui went to the residenoe of the Rev. Mr. Travers, of the First Methodist Church, who married them. The girl returned home, and the next day Rider made his appearanoe and claimed* her as his wife. Mr. Wamng was indignant, and applied to the dangb- ter to know if it was true. She at onoe admitted the marriage, and waa driven from home. She went to the residence of Mr. Craft, where the bigamist met her and where they lived together till the 21st af Juli The village was then sliuUeu by an other event in the bigamist’s life. On thut day Miss Alibis Horton, of Highland, appeared Is-fore Justice Kltinge, aud charged James L. Rider wilh seducing her under promise of marriage. A war rant wus issued, and Rider was taken from Craft's bouse to tbe Justice^' office, where lie pleaded guilty, and Was at once sent to Kingston jail to await th* action of the grand jury. After hi* departure information was received that still an other young girl had been his victim. She resides about bulf-a-milo from High land, and Rider had visited her secretly, at tho same time giving out that he had joined the Prcsbyte ian church in the village. After his arrest for sedueing Abby Horton, the father of Mias War ring] uided by counsel, proceeded to learn all shout Rider's antecedents. He found Rider's mother iu Brooklyn, and was shown by her a letter from his wife in Virginia. Mr. Warring next went to Portsmouth, anil there procured a certi fied copy of Rider's marriage certificate, on file in tbe county clerk’s office, to gether with other nocessary documents. He reached Highland on the 4th of July and showed them to his daughter, who was almost heart-broken, and asking for giveness, was taken home again. Mr. Warring has token steps to have the mar- riage of .his daughter with Rider declared null and void, nnd has also ploood a war rant for bigamy against him in tho hands of the Sheriff of Ulster ooantyr So strong is the feeling against Rider iff Highland, that if he were there now ha Woakl be in danger of lynching.—N.
