MAYOR*! COURT*
Mondays ’are generally good days for
the city exchequer, as people seem to vie
with each other on the previous Sunduy
as to who can commit the most devil
ment And besides, two day’s account
are presented at once, which help to swell
the fines of the Court
Two gentlemen of respectability and

There is an establishment in town
with the words "No Whisky Here” on

places-where it is professed to be re
tailed—the purchaser beiug sold and not
the whisky.
There is a fortune teller in town. Auy
number of fortune hunters have been
here before him.
The express drivers don’t like the new
Btreet Railroad. They look upou it os
an expreo# innovation.
The latest name for it uow is "sun
stroke." The Mayor is over hauling his
old musty medicine books looking for n
cure. He had several cases yesterday.
After our beautifnl notice yesterday of
the two beautiful passenger coaches of
the Macon and Western Railroad they
were beautifully slipped off on the morn

The heavy clouds and vivid lightning
of yesterday evening passed us without

Fruit is being brought to this city from

The Street Railroad has switched off

An Alderman who bad his semi-annual

right last night. Two cocktails straight

JOHN SMALLEY
was uot the same chap who went round
the country some time ngo interviewing
honest people, and then publishing a
long lie about them; but this John—our
John—must be very near of kin to him.
This one is a black fellow, but we did not
learn whether the New York HerttUfi
Smalley was black skin or not—bis heart
was ebon.
Well, our Atlanta Smalley went into a
store and wauted to ruu hi* face for some
goods; but although it looked sleek aud
greasy, it would not pass with the mer
chant, whereupon Smalley expressed a
very small opinion of the wbole concern,
proprietors, clerks, house and all. He
thought them a set of d—n rascals. For
this he wus arrested, and the Mayor in
making his charge, thought John was
exceedingly fortunate in beiug able to
boast of an unbroken skull, for the lan
guage used. He seemed to think a four
pound weigh.t could have been judicious
ly used by the merchant Ten and cost.
FREDERICK PIERCE
was a base-ballist—a short-stop—a cen
ter-fielder—a most anything, as a chain
pion base-ball player,
lot of his little chums were out playiug
ball Saturday evening; and as usual when
the boys play in the neighborhood of
houses, they disturb the iumates. A )>o-

yelling, and other indecencies; but his

them, O'Donohoo, did not consider a
man drunk till he was down and nnablt
to rise. This was not the case with
Jumee. He thought there was a conspir
acy agaiust him in that neighborhood,
and that the two witnesses were among
the conspirators. One of Dribkol's wit
nesses was l)au Bhuhane, who testified
vociferously that his ffriend Jamrnie was

That he had beuu with him all day aud

he knew he wus uot drunk. Dau put a
uew phase on his friend's offense, und got
him off with costs.
MISS 8 A LI. IK THOMPSON
felt that she was gujlty of the 'charge of
beiug drunk on Sunday on the streets,
and had every appearance of having im
bibed pretty freely the day before. His
Honor asked her if she was kin to
Thompson with a "p," and being in
formed that she was, he charged her ten
dollars for it. (Exit Thumps., holding
aloft her head aud sweeping out of the
bar with a queenly flourish of her trail.)
Two parties were then called who came
up absent.
