N*w York, August 18.—Two of the escaped convicts were captured in a swamp and pursuit of the bulonce continued. The rumor that the steamer Henry Ohauncey was burnt on the 10th off Body Island is undoubtedly false. Nobyopk, August 18.—Mr. J. H. Walker, Vice-President of the Sun Mu tual insurance Company—Sir: I hasten to inform you of the loss of the Pacific mail steamer, Henry Ohauncey. The ship was discovered to be on fire off Body Island, itrnl immediately beaded for the land. Every effort was made to smother the flames, bnt the Are continued to burn with fearful rapidity until the ship struck the beach, the passengers narrowly es caping with their lives. The steamer Resolute lias been dispatched to the scene of the disaster. . The barometer has fallen decidedly Thursday afternoon at the Pacific Bock Mountain stations, and the area low barometer yesterday advanced Minnesota, now covers that State also Kansas. The pressure remains highest from Lake Michigan to Kentucky, but lias fallen. An area of low barome ter exists north of Lake Ontario, with brisk westerly winds from Michigan to New Hampshire. Smoke and haze is re ported from Western Nebraska and Iowa, os also from Eastern Michigan and Lake Ontario. Bain lias been reported from the ooast of North Carolina and Texas, and now prevails on the south Atlantic coast The cyclone which was on Thurs day afternoon prevailing in Florida, after moving northwestward, is now taking the usual course northeastward, and has reached Savannah. No rein iris have been received from Florida for the post twenty-four hours. 16th says that during a storm on Bayou Rapid, on the 7th instant, two strangers who sought shelter under ii struck by lightning and killed. Tho Montana took $72,000 worth of California wine for New York. JHmre Tern— Extreme Bent. San Francisco, Aug. 18.—Twenty car loads of frosh Japanese tea have been shipped eastward to-day. The weather is immensely warm. Tho thermometer was 112 at San Ber- sardine. There were heavy showers at San Die go yesterday. It was said to have been unprecodentedly heavy. TENNESSEE, •Murder—*"500,000 in JUbpute-JUenlh. Memthis, August, 18.— Edward Barr, a son of wealthy parents, was shot and instantly killed to-day, by desperadoes, in tho southern portion of the city. A. S. Mitchell, special master in Chan- oery, in the case of T. E. Brown via tho city, for paving streets with Nicholson pavement, has decided in favor of plain tiff for $500,000. Judge Taing, a leading lawyer of the city, is dead. FOREIGN NEWS. PRUSSIA. Berlin, August 18.—The cholera lias upi>eared in the neighborhood of Btetin. The disease continues its ravages at Ko- uigsberg. On Tuesday there were seventy new eases and thirty-fourth deaths, anu on Wednesday eighty new cases and twenty-seven deaths. The rnetmc* ifuettiem. J. qlsey, a jury broker, to ten days im prisonment and a tine of 850; Henry Jones, tot falsely representing Lewis Hardman, to ten davs imprisonment and 8100 fine.
