Wasuinotos, October 19.—In the Su
preme Court, case No. 90, the State of
Louisiana, plaintiff in error, vs. O. M.
Wickliffe, Auditor, etc., was taken up.—
This cause was argued by Mr. W. W.
Handiin for the plaintiff in ei-ror. The
Court declined to bear any further argu
ment in the cause.
The patent of 8. W. White, of Mil-
ledgeville, for a cotton need planter, has
been extended.

steamer O. R. Colburn foundered in Sag

States Marshal has brought four alleged
Ku-Klux from North Mississippi.

Baltimore, Ootober 19.— The commit
toe on canons reported adversely to
amending Canon 13,,title* 2, on Marriage
and Divorce. The committee reported
adversely to creating the office of Suf
fragan Bishops. Several reporta upon
uniformity in Ritual were mado the
special order for to-morrow.
General Richard N. Bowerman has
been sentenced to four years in the Balti
more jail and a fine of $2,000 costs, and
Col. Thos. W. Wilson has been sentenced
to three years, a fine and costa. Both
were convicted of custom house defalca
tions.

San Francisco, October 10 - —Fifty
thousand sheep were scattered and lost
in the mountains, near Fort Tejon, by a
sandstorm. .
Tax payers carry the city in the judi
ciary and school elections.
Repnbliosus carried school and judi
ciary elections throughout the State.
The tax payers carriod tho city by 50,000
majority. Tho Democrats arc contesting
the election in Talerno county, because
the interference of Federal officials pre
vented a free ballot.
The case of Mrs. Fair commences in
the Supreme Court the 24th.
The Apaches, with whom Vincent Col
lier had just mado peace, attacked a
stage bctwcon Sucsou and Camp Crit
tenden.

A wagon load of Union torpedoes ex
ploded this morning, killing tho driver
instantly. His leg was blown several
hundred feet. The windows in the vi
cinity wore shattered by the concussion.
The torpedoes were manufactured by

were being discharged from the ship

At 10 o’clock the Fire Department of Atlanta will turn out with visiting Companies, and
contest, l»y trial of their Engines, on the Ground, for the Premium to he awarded.
At half past two o’clock a trot will come off for the Special Premium offered by O. H.
Jones & Co., for the fastest trotting horse, driven by the owner, to a buggy.
Immediately after this trot a RUNNING RACE will come off—mile heats, best 2 in 3.
A Purse of $25 00 is offered on a Mule Race, riders to be changed, and the slowest to
take the money—two or more to enter.
