Van Epps was granted $100 as damages for injuries. Petition from some merchants protest ing against street auorions as nuisance, in that they obstructed the street. Petition from 100 citizens, asking that the Fourth end Fifth Wards bo divided into threo Wards, with tbo following boundaries: First—Along the Geor gia Railroad from the oity limits to Peaohtree street; along Peaohtroa to Houston, along Houston to Randolph, through land lot No. 10, botween Block 1 and 2, and 5 and 0, to the city limits, to Georgia Railroad Second—Along Houston, as abovo, to city limits, north wardly to Peachtree street, thence along Peaohtree street. A Dabiko Attempt at Robbebt,— Yesterday morning, about 10 o’clock, two tbievea made an attempt to rob tbo safe of the Southern Life Insnranoe Company, at the corner of Broad and Marietta streets. Mr. Kellam, the polite nnd efficient clerk in that well regulated establishment, was alone in tho office—all other persons happening, at the time, to bo out. Thief No. 1 entered tbo office at the front door, on Marietta street, and engaged Mr. K. in a business conversation—inquiring the terms upon which be could have bis life insured. While this was going on, thief No. 2 cautiously crept into the back part of the office, through the aide door, on Broad street, went behind the counter, and entered tbe vault, which waa stand ing open—all this entirely unobserved. Mr. Kellam heard a paper rattle, and looking, saw tbe intruder in the vault, trying to put a large envelope, which contained some papers, into the breast pocket of hia coat The thief, seeing he was discovered, let the papers fall on tbe floor. Mr. K. ran to him, seized him by the collar, and led him ont from tho counter. The two thieves and Mr. Kel- lam wore the only persons in the office. Tbe latter began to look about for some way to secure them. While trying to look and secure tbe front door, thief No. 2 made a break for tbo back door. Mr. K. pursued him to the street, but recol lecting tbat thief No. 1 was in tbo office alone, ho went back, bnt fonnd him es caping at the front door. He then ran to the back door, but thief No. 2 was no where in sight, t He suddenly disappear ed, and no one win on his traok.
