Washington, Nov. 29. —The Court of

All the Departments will dose to

Cuban affairs are attracting much at
tention. There aro many sensational
dispatches. The matter wus nndoubt-
ly discussed in the Cabinet yestorday,
aud the reinforcement of the Nortli At

sels of the fleet, withdrawn to honor the
coming of Alexis, will hurry back.
The Cousul General at Havana wants

The execution of the eight students
for exoesses over tho grave of an odious
volunteer captain, is generally regarded
1 barbarously horrible.
There m no excitement at the Spanish
Legation here. Minister Roberts lias no
communication from bis own or our gov
ernment indicating other than a pacific
solution of the pending misunderstand
ing.
It is said that Grant laughed at Robe
son's report of hia guns now in West In
dia waters. They are pop guns in calibre
and inferior in number to the Spanish
fleet. •
It is supposed st tho Nsvy Department
that the Terror having been ordered to
Havana yesterday, will arrivo there to
day. Tho Worcliester, now at Boston,
will be the flag ship of the North Atlontio
fleet, Admiral Lee having,.it is said, left
Washington to-day to join her. The
Swatora, now at Norfolk, oaunot imme
diately join the squadron, as the Captain
reported this morning that she first re
quired repairs. The Severn is nominally
in commission, bat will not be fitted for
sea. Tbe Worcliester takes her plaoe.
The Kansas and Nipaio will soon join the
squadron. The Shawmut, which ieoent-
ly started for Brazil, will be recalled for
temporary duty in the squadron.
The authorities here do not appreh end
any difficulties in Havana with American
oihzens, bnt say the return of the squad
ron to the Norm Atlantic is in accord
ance with the usage, to have a foroe con
venient for tile protection of our citizens
should necessity for it oocnr. They look
upon the recent disturbances at Havana
as merely of a local character and signifi
cant of tlie assumed import of the volun
teers against the Spanish authorities.
