St. Loll*, 2U.—The latest issue of the Ciiuoiman^ puhliolu'd at Lexiuj{- too, Mo., centaluh the follotving lotur, uddresoed to*its editor: Nate York, Oct. lb, lt571.—P. Douan, Eoq.—My dear air: 1 have yours of the 14th inst. I have no doubt that the policy you suggest is that which your party ought to adopt They should have run Salmon P, Chose io lbhtt. Then, the result of that contest, a return of genuine peace and thrift would have been promoted. That policy gave you more last year in Missouri than could lmve been secured through a party triumph.— You err only as to the proper eaudidute. I am not the man you need. Your party is mostly Flee TVade, and I am a fero cious Protectionist. I have no doubt that I might be nominated and elected by yonr help, but it would place us all in false positions. If I, who am adversely interested, can see this, I am sure your good sense will, on reflection, realize that you must take some man like Qratz BrowD, or Trumbull, or Gen. Oox, late Secretary of the Interior, and thus help to pacify and re-unite our oountry anew. Yours, Horace Greelky. ». ♦-# KENTUCKY. Death of llev. Hubert J. Brecklat Idgc.
