Kills, auctioneers, had t stock sale yesterday, that effected a change ofownors of a large number of mules, horses, cows, &o. They will hate another sale of valuable property of a moro gen eral character to-morrow. D. F. WillAfr, administrator, will tell en the 18th instant, at the residence of the jits * Mrs. Cairnes, corn, fodder, peat, gats, etc. Sea his notice. John Johnson, ordinary of this county, has a legal notice to those concerned. Hester Green. Girard, will sell at the court bouso in Butler, Taylor county, on the first Tuesday in January next, some valuable property in that town. Hejor Sikes has some Tallapoosa river lseds for sale. Tallapoosa is a great “state" and her lands will besought for. I. C. Johnson has a plantation on the Tslbntton road. It is a nice place, sur rounded by good orchard, etc. Mr. Johnson can be found at J. Ky|e •& Co.'s, Broad street. J. J. Huff, Ordinary of Marion county, has an important legal notice to "whom it any concern." Our present polite and efficient City Clerk, Mr. M. M. Moure, is again a can* didate for that position. We do not know of any opposition, and hope tlioro will be none, for "lie will do." Another full ticket of Mayor and Al dermen, is presented in this paper. Tha people may elect other men, without se lecting better ones. Tlio friends of J. W. Sappington and Foster S. Chapman have associated their names together on a ticket for Aldermen of the second wind. We congratulate the 2d, upon haviog so many names fit for the place. The Weather seemed to be clearing up, ud was coriainly turning cooler, yester- day. No rain yet to do any good. Our river is showing more temperate habits lino ever before—it soeme determined not to get "high" even at Christmas. do Small Pox in the City,—Wo are glad to have reliable confirmation of the belief upraised by us yecterdny, that there is no ■mall pox in Columbua. Or. Jas. Roper City Phyeician, informs us that there are UStJUfe’ V'lfrl' bt'JS'fiptember. Dr. It. also informs us that the negro imsll pox patients on the Alabama side of lbs river are about a mile and a half from ike bridge, removed from the immediate locality of any family, and where the dis ease is not likely to spread. They are five ia number, and aro properly caved for The disease was communicated to them by °e||roes from Montgomery, Ala. The"Biggest Thing" yet, in the way of robbery, was porpotrated in thia city on Wednesday night. Some thieve* took ten rales of cotton from the warehouse of Mr. Vernoy, on Ogletborpo streot, and ear ned them oil' to other parts. Five of the kales were afterwards found on the com- ®oo, but no one could tell how they esme Irate. Hauling wagons about through a GlJ in tho night, and stealing and carry- off such bulky articles as cotton bales, “certainly a groat improvement in tha art of robbery. Old Morcury himself (but »e believe ho was only » day or two old he il ° l8 ‘he oacn) is fairly beaten by oodern adopts. We expect next to find 'rat they taken off n storehouse Or two on Broad street, with all their contents, and Bet nobody taw them at it or heard the ■tail noise. CANDIDATES. For Aldermen 2d Ward* J.
