The indications are that the entire delegation from Georgia in the next Congress will be Democratic. Bequest ofa Southern Gentleman to Bouthern Negroes. Washington, October 9.—Gassoway B. Lamar, who died recently in New York, bequeathed one hundred thousand dol lars for the erection nt Savannah of a home for the aged and infirm negroes. [G. B. Lamar was one of the moat fiery of secessionists. His son, Col. Charles A. L. Lamar, was killed near Col. Mott's residence by the Federals in their advance on Columbus on April 10th, 1805. He w as one of the most gallant officers in the Confederate service. Mr. G. B. Lamar was robbed by the Government of thous ands of bales of cotton. Of late he has recovered from the Government, through the courts, a considerable portion. He owned hundreds of negroes. Though freed against his will, he still preserved affection for them. Though a true Southerner, and what may be called a bit ter Democrat, ho still had a love for bis former slaves, and leaves this magnificent bequest to the aged and infirm who were lately slaves. Did any Northern Radical do anything so generous? Seward and Sumner died rich. They left their de scendants rich. Not a word about the aged and infirm. They left only the Civil Rights bill, the emblem of hate and discord. Billings, Stephen Renfro and Charles Bullock were committed without bail. Phillip A. Hill man wan discharged, but will probably be arrested on another charge. He was ar rested the first time by Deputy Marshal Randolph without a warrant. The Com- misioner in giving his opinion said it would be unbecoming in him, as a United States Commissioner to pass upon the constitutionality of the Enforcement act, as the Attorney General of the United States had instructed his general officers and marshals under Bt. The only witnesses to the killing by de fendants, were two wandering negroes, who had no permanent employment and who contradicted each other in maDy es sential particulars. Eight or ten witness es of uuimpeachable integrity swore to an alibi of both prisoners. The prosecutor swore that he first told what he knew to Congressman Chas. Hays, in Montgomery. Miles, agent for tho Cheyennes and Arrapahoes, Indian Ter ritory, dated September 2<>th, in which he says: “Night before last, some horse thieves stole eighteen of Powder Face’s best ponies. I sent two deputy marshals with eight young Arrapahoes in pursuit. Yesterday noon we received information that tho Cheyennes had forced General Milos to retreat to the vicinity of the An telope hills, and that encouraged by their success, they had started out war parties, one of which had met General Davidson somewhere up tho Washita, and they had lost three of their bravos killed, and that another party of about twenty-five were camped yesterday morning thirty miles west of the agpney. I at once placed a carrier on a good horse to proceed along the line of the road from here to Caldwell warn travelers of the apprehended dan ger. He was followed a few hours later by Captain Cramer, with a full company of cavalry. Thou wilt not wonder at my anxiety when I say that my wife aud three little ones are now between here and Cald well, detained by high waters. Look out for news from the border of Kansas. The Cheyennes, exasperated by their losses aud encouraged by their successes, will fight like demons, and will scour the whole country.” A letter to Bishop Manucey conveys the sad intelligence that on Friday last three of the Hitters of Ht.
