Spider Again Wins, Tho race ut Atlanta on Friday for trot ting horses was again won by Mosoly’s “Spider,” of Columbus, in threo straight heats. His compoditors were Ralston’s Lnoy, a gray horse from Nashville, and another we have forgotten. “Spider” in 2:41, 2:88 and 2:37, milo heats, had nothing really to oppose him. The first money was four hundred dollars. Ho had uo competitor to increase his speed. Tho general impression of those who have returned from Atlanta is that Basil Duke, owiug to the injuries received in the runaway we mentioned yesterday, will not he entered iu Tuesday s raoe, and ‘•Snider” will have a wulk over tho track and —No Mayor’s Court yesterday. —The factories paid out on yesterday about $12,000 as wages to operatives for tho past two weeks. —Iu noticing the grand bull iu Atlanta on Thursday night tho Constitution says : From Columbus came Mrs. Leo Jordan and Miss Lucy Ellis.” —There is hut one university in life, and that is where the heart is educated. —The residents of Bardis, Miss., are disrespectfully spoken of as “Sardines.” —The colored people of Georgia own property to the amount of $t»\ 157,758. It may not be uninteresting to know that tasteful and inventive tailors—cutters— aro to-dny receiving salaries equal to a lepartment officer. Harry Skiff, of Now York, receives $7,500 from C&shaud, Whitford A Co.; Fitzpatrick, with Mor- hmik, of Cincinnati, receives n snlnrv of $10,000; Bomfaine, with .Hale, of Pitts burg, receives $4,500; Dillon, of St. Louis, receives $4,000; Mr. Bartraui, of Washington City, was offered $5,000 a year to go to Chicago, with tho position guaranteed for five years. Numerous others obtain salaries ranging from $2,- 000 to $3,000 per annum, while a cutter of ordinary ability receives from $1,500 to $ 1,800 per year.
