On returning, ho found t owe boxes in front of the storo. As they were tilled with tobacco, ito., it is supposed that he nar rowly missed rnnuing on tho thieves, and they ran on his approach. A difficulty occurred at HurtviUe, Bus sell county, Ale., on Tuesday evening last, between Hardy Crawford (millor at Goorge Long’s mills) and one T. J. Wor rell, in whioh .the former was mortally wounded by a knife iu the hands of the Utter. Mr. King Tillman also had his nose severely injured by a blow from Worrell. He and Mr. Scarborough took the posi tions by the advioe of their friends. It was mentioned in the “Georgia News,” published Wednesday, that the Democrats of Macon would vote for a nomination for Mayor of Macon on Wednesday, and that the oontest had been narrowed down to the present incumbent, W. A. Huff, sod Col. T. G. Holt, all the other candidates retiring in favor of the latter. A private dispatch received yes terday morning informs ns that Hnff re ceived a majority of 501 votes over his competitor out of a fall vote polled. The eleotion does not occur until some time in January. Ublf moat be popular in Macon; but we doubt whether a majority of tho •olid tax payers are for him. Sate of Real Rotate In Alabama.
