CLOTHING. —The street oars of Macon were stopped on Monday, the atock haring been levied npon for board bills. —The Jonesboro Appeal say* the cotton crop of Twiggs, Wilkiuson and Laurens is about gathered, and amounts to about ; three-fourths of an arofage crop. * -Miss Mary T. Patterson, of the United States Army. _ The gin house of Mr. Langdon Ellis, Un„ near West Point, wa« burned on Wednesday night, with ten bales of cot on packed, and several others in the ouso. It was the work of an incendiary. —The Sumter Republican says that the nail agents on the Brunswick and Albany Jlailroad were required to dnpn up rotes for Whitoly and other Radical tricksters. I The consequonco was that the people I along the liu» wore without their mail for ^two days. —On Sunday night, November first, five out houses and the unoccupied dwelling on tho Mill Place, five miles from Haw- iusville, on the railroad, were fired by unknown parties. Every building was de stroyed. Tho place is owned by Charles • Mull is, of Cochran. —The Atlanta papers note the arrival t* there, ou Saturday, of a delegation of S thirty gentlemen from Texas, all native Georgians, headed by Lieutonant-Govor- * ! nor K. B. Hubbard, a native of Jasper . ’ county, and a graduate of Meroer Univer- 18 ity # Tho Chamber of Commerce wel comed them on Monday. The Herald thinks that they will give stimulus to em igration from Georgia to Texas when they scatter at Atlauta to visit thoir old homes in a number of counties in this State. —A special to tho Macon Telegraph re ports a difficulty at Leesburg on Sunday between W. H. Minis aud an old gentle man named Leo, who lives in Atlanta, but plants iu Leo connty, during which Mims kicked Lee, alleging that the latter had insulted his wife. Shortly afterwards, Edward Lee, a son of tho old gentleman, met Mims and shot him four times, kill ing him almost instantly. Lee was rested and lodged in jail. The public appear to sympathize with Lee. —Tho Brunswick Appeal says that on Monday last, soon after tho firing up, the boiler of McDonald's mill, at tho 83 mile post on tho Brunswick and Albany Rail road, exploded, fatally wounding Mr. Richard Wattles, from whioh he subse- J uently die f » nud Berioualy injuring Mr. oaiah Kay. Several others were slightly injured. The two named men were thrown about sixty feet from the mill, and tho large boiler blown near throe hundred fee*, after cutting its way through a large pile of lumber. Portu nately, tho explosion ocourrod at an hour when but few of tho employees had hr- Reuibled for work, which accounts for few being hurt. Wo have heArd no caubo assigned for the fatal catastrophe. —The Augusta Chronicle says that on Sunday night the sleeping car belonging to tho Georgia Railroad, and attaohed to the up night passenger train, was thrown from the track about a quarter of a milo this side of Covington, by a broken rail, and rolled down a steep embankment. Tlxo train was proceeding ut its usual rate of speed. All passed over the broken rail safely but tho sloepiug car, whioh be longed to tho company, as stated above, and was not a Pullman. The oar was thrown from the track and then dragged some distance, wbon it broke loose from the traiu uud rolled down a bank about fifty foot high, turning completely over twice. It was finally stopped by a stump and remained standing upside down. There were seven passengers in the oar— six men and a little boy. Thoso were all considerably bruised, but none seriously injured. —Ou Sunday evening, 8th inst., John B. Taylor was shot and killed by John Daily, jr., near Providence Church, about five miles from llawkinsville, on the Dub lin road. Both were young mon, Daily being about twenty-one yoais of age, and Taylor perhaps a few years older. Thero bad for boiuo months been an ill-feeling between the men. A day otf two previous to the fatal difficulty, Taylor and Daily met, and sharp words ensued. On tho Sunday following Doily was passing the road, and was overtaken by Taylor, who, according to some reports about it, re newed the difficulty. Both men were armed. Tho result was Taylor was shot iu tho forehead and mortally wounded, only living a few minutes. —The Savannah Nem Rays the commit tee on Oglethorpe College made a report expressing a hope on. the part of the Synod “that tho city of Atlanta will with draw her claim to the property in contro versy, ” and allow it to bo Hold, which was unanimously adopted. The committee also report that instead of Atlanta's giv ing “$40,000 and ten acres of laud," she gave the ten acres of ground, whioh were sold for $12,000, and tho citizens gave some six or eight thousand dollars without any Hite for the buildings. This money, moreover, was colleoted iu huihII sums, and at long intervals of time, so that the bourd of trustees had to pay $2,000 in in- forest before the money was realized to pay for tho Neal House. ALABAMA NEWfth —Mr. Robert McQueen, an old and popular citioen of Huyueville, Ala., died on tho (Jth iust. He was Sheriff of Lowndes county over twenty yoars ago. —The Eufaula papers report large num bers of wild ducks on the river in their neighborhood. There are some near Co lumbus, but they are not yet plentiful here. —Hon. Henry D. Clayton, the new Judge of the 8th Judicial Cironit of Al abama, opened the fall term of the Cir cuit Court of Borbour county, at Clayton, on Monday last. —Iu his charge to tho Grand Jury of Barbour county, on Monday, Judge Clay ton dirooted their attention to the so- called “dead falls" at which so much stolen cotton is sold by plantation thieves, —The State Journal learns that tho barn of Gov. Parsons, at Talladega was burned Monday afternoon. The loss is between $2,000 and $3,000. —The Mobile Register says that there was a rush to sign the bonds of Messrs. Renfro aud Bu'dock on Monday, and after tho making of tho bonds they left for their homes. —Mr. Goodwin, of Eufaula, was arrest ed iu Montgomery on Tuesday, at the in stigation of Judge Kails, on Home charge growing out of the Enfaula election riot. Ho was admitted to bail by Judge Woods, and will appear for trial ou Monday next. —-The full returns of the first Congres sional District show tho election of Jere Haralsou, negro Radical, by a considera ble majority. Tho first reports about the vote of Wilcox county proved to bo in correct. The Congressional delegation composed of six Democrats aud two Re. publicans. This Tobicco Crop.—The Louisville Courier-Journal estimates the aggregate of the tobacco crop in the United States this year at 105,000 hogsheads and 65,000 cases; uh compute! with 205,000 hogs heads and 140,000 cases in 1873, and 272,- 000 hogsheads and 145,000 cases in 1872, Adding in the stock left over, the total supply this year is 2GO,6C0 hogsheads, ai compared with 370,423 iu 1873, and 873,- 803 in 1872. Calculating that the require ments will bo tho Hamo as iu previous years, the Rupply left in the markets Octo ber. 1875, will be only 2,000 hogsheads, as compared with 135,000 this year, aud 115,000 in 1873.
