of Seaford, Del., left Baltimore in the
schooner General Soott for the Caribbean

Key he discovered immeaae quantitiea of

mad* another voyage, and finding the is
land uninhabited hoiatad the American
flag over it, and commenced preparation*

hi* third trip while loading hia venial a
Spanish man-of-war oama down from St.
John's with orders for th* Americans to
abandon thair work and vacate th* inland.
Capt. Btockley waa nude to unload hia

by the commander of the man-of-war to
make up hia oargo. H* returned to Bal
timore, and subsequently nude a claim

$200,000 indemnity for th* loam he had
sustained. That waa twenty yearn ago,
and the claim has recently b*en s«nt to
Madrid, where some decision regarding it
will be rendered, it ia thought, at no vary
distant day.
