Augusta, December 18.—An aooidont occurred on the Charlotte, Colombia and Anguata Bailroad thia morning. A freight train of nineteen cars left August* st 6:80 o'olook. It ia a proposition to oonflne the tremendous quantity of water collected by the water sheds of the Adriondacks until tba dry time in summer, when the Hudson river becomes almost unnavigable through scarcity of water. Boldo i* tree found In Obili, of n height of five or ■ix feet, isolated on mountainous regions, with yellow bloaaoma and vsrdant foliage, It* bark, leaves and bloaaoma possess a marked aromatio odor, resembling a mix tui* of turpentine and eamphor. Tha leaves contain largely an essential oil. It eoataina an alkaloid whioh ia already oall- ed “boldine.’’ Its properties are ehieffy aa a stimulant to the digestion and having n marked aotion on the liver. It* action waa discovered rather accidentally—thus Some sheep which were liver diseased were confined in tn enclosure which hap pened to bavo been recently repaired with boldo twigs.
