CONGRESS. Belayed Dispatch*#. WasHntoToN, December 22.— Mr. Brom berg offered a resolution for tha appoint ment of a select committee to enquire whether any ofttcor of the Government hed used any msana to obstruct the ad ministration of juatioe in the Dietriot of Columbia, particularly relative to tbe so- called safe burglary conspiracy. The House refused to Becond the pre vioua question by 74 to 81, and the reBo. lution went over. Mr. HaDdall gave notioe that tho tame resolution would be offered next Moudey. Hays offered a resolution for a select oommittee to enquire into the political affairs of Alabama, and aa to the use of Federal soldiers there, and intimidation of votere. Mr. Kendall jraggeated that the com mittee also enqnire ss to the distribution of rations voted by Congress to Alabama sufferers by the floods last spring. Hays said he had no objection to thet, bnt enquiry had been already provided for in the resolntion adopted last Monday. Hayn' resolution was tben adopted. Mr. Sloes, at the request of Mr. Young, of Georgia, offered a resolution calling on tha Secretary of War for information as to whether any army offloer in the South baa reoeived or attempted to obtain from the Legislature of any Slate compensa tion for his services, or has, while on doty as auoh officer, been admitted to the bar, or praotioed for hia personal emolu ment. The Honse refused to enapend tha rules and adopt the resolntion; yeas 149, nays 75 ; not two-thirds in the affirmative. The Alabama delegation voted, yeas Mr. Bromberg ; nays Pelham, Sheets, and Whit*. Mot voting, Messrs. Sloes and Bspiar.
