TWO Kl^sKS.
Two kisses he remembers through ail the dark
ening years—
Through life made drear with sorrow, through
blinding mist of t.'ai?,
The first kiss of his mistress under a moon! t
sky;
Tlie last kiss of his mother, the night he saw her
die.
The first, all full of pa-ion. through hair r,f
shining gold;
The lust, all love and ten*
not make it cold.
Two kisses he remember.-! The woman’.- golden
hair
In misty glory shading a face most sweet and
fair;
Ah, falsehood stains the rosy lips, false is the
blushing face —
.A newer love is smiling in the old trysting place!
His mother's kiss, unchanging, with tears the
eyes are dim,
While death's hand presses on the heart so full
of love for him.
Ah, love’s first kiss! The sweet springtime and
beauty’s tempting glance
Seen through the dazzling sunshine of love, and
wine and dance.;
He still may find love's kiss again, for love is
light of wing.
To one immortal tenderness no change the years
may bring.
One love is with him always, one look of buried
eyes;
One kiss alone remembered his mother's as she
dies.
HOW I PROPOSED.
We were seated in luxurious arm-chairs
before the cheerful open tire in Jaek’ssnug
Nmoking room, enjoying his excellent Ha
vanas, when my host broke the silence
which had lasted for several minutes with
the surprising question, “Did I ever tell
you where and how I proposed to my
wife?”
I nodded a negative reply well aware as I ThhBits!
did so t hat lie knew he had not told me,but j
had prefaced his tale with an interroga
tion according to his usual custom.
“It’s quite a long story,” said Jack in a
warning tone, remembering my aversion
the Wilsons' place, I found, to my in
creased embarrassment, that the girl t-
whom I had s . recently offered myself wa
standing on the pin f irm, apparently wait
ing for some one.
••That she siw me I could tell from the
expression of not seeing me which she im
mediately assumed. As she would not
took at me, I had ] lenty of opportunity to
observe her, and saw that site really did
resemble Helen in many ways, notwith
standing she was both fairer and smaller.
“But my object was riot to admire her,
although I assure you my inclination was;
so, finding that there was no hope of ob
taining a vehicle, I started on foot, fortu
nately getting a lift over the greater part
of the way.
“Arrived at the house. I was welcomed
with much cordiality by my host and his
family, and introdu. I to other guests.
“Imagine my feelings when, in the
course of conversation, I learned that
Frank's sister was expected home lrom
boarding-school Hint afternoon by the very
train on which I had come.
"It was then to her I had been making

"During the entire week I was impa

learned that a large diamond ring which
she had been wearing for several months
was the pledge of engagement to some
other follow; and to my surprise, discov
ered at the same time that the knowledge
did not trouble me very much.
“1 suppose you think that I was half in
love with the sister, but I assure you that
I was not. I considered her too young; for

for me in every particular; and it was not

BLOOD AND MONEY.
The blood of man has much to do in shaping
bln actions during bis pilgrimage through this
troublesome world, regardless of the amount of
present or expectant money in pocket or stored
uway in bank. It is a conceded fact that we ap
pear n« our blood makes us, and the purer the
blood, the happier, healthier, prettier and wiser
we are: hence the oft-repeated interrogators*,
"how is you r blood ?" With pure streams of life-
giving fluid coursing through our veins, bounding
through our hearts, and ploughing through our
physical frames, our morals become better, our
constitution stronger, our intellectual faculties
more accute and grander, and men, women and
children happier, healthier and more lovely.
The unprecedented demand, the unparalleled
curative powers, and the unmistakable proof from
those of unimpeachable character and integrity,
point with an unerring finger to B. B. B. Botanic
Blood Balm us fur the best, the cheapest, the
quickest, and the grandest and most powerful
blood remedy ever before known to mortal man,
in the relief and positive cure of Scrofula, Rheu
matism, Skin Diseases, all taints of blood poison.
Kidney complaints, old ulcers and sores, cancers,
catarrh, etc,
B. B. B. is only about three years old -a baby in
age, a giant in power—but no remedy in America
can make or ever has made such a wonderful
showing in its magical powers in curing and en
tirely eradicating the above complaints, and
gigantic sales in the face of frenzied opposition
and would-be money monopolists.
Letters from all points where introduced are
pouring in upon us. speaking in the loudest praise.
Home say they receive more benefit from one bot
tle of B. B. B. than they have from twenty, thirty
and fifty, and even one hundred bottles of a
boasted decoction of inert and non-medicinal
roots, and branches of common forest trees. We
hold the proof in black and white, and we also
hold the fort.
