A Hurt Count) rroslict-Aii Otil l'lstol thnt Was Loaded—'Tho Kail Kalin In Alaliania—The Ala- hama Hood Tviuplars-Sonio Sewn Items from Florida. Georirln. Marshallvtlle has a genuine red-headed negro. There are seven candidates in Bartow county for representative. Mr. J. W. Smith, of Bartow county, has committed suicide by cutting his throat. The republicans of Lowndes county have nominated a oolored candidate for the legislature. Mr. John G, Rushin, of Thomas county, went on a fox hunt with some friends in Macon county, and caught twenty-eight opossums and one polecat. The Camilla Clarion thinks that tho artesian water, which is strongly mineral, has much to do with the uninterrupted health and robust looks of her busiuess men. A cow in Wri^htsville, Ga., the property of James Price, is said to have given birth to ten calves in the short space of six years. The extensive progeny flourished and reached the state of maturity. A Hart county prophet predicts the end of the world in 1890, and lias sold nut nil his earthly possessions. He claims tn he the spirit of Elijah incarnate. The fool killer would find plenty to do now, in the way of prophets and foretellers of evil. Col. D. J. Bailey, of Griffin, is the demo cratic nominee for the legislature of Spalding county. He has had much legis lative experience, having served two terms in the national congress and a long time in the Georgia legislature, and one session as president of the senate. The republicans of Liberty county having nominated a candidate for the legislature which failed to gi ve satisfaction, a mass meeting of the party was held, and after much excitement and confusion, order was restored by singing a few sacred songs, and another candidate was put in the field. Primus Mincy was lodged in Screven jail Tuesday morning charged with shoot ing a colored woman on Mr. Morel’s place. Some other darkey had superseded Primus in the affections of the woman, and, con trary to the usual plan among them, he shot the woman instead of the more favored suitor. At a school house near Camps, in Telfair county, two young men—Johnnie Walker and Coot Cravey—were handling an old pistol, when it fired, the ball entering the chest of young Walker and wounding him dangerously, if not fatally. The ball in jured the right lung so badly that his friends are alarmed. The young men were good friends, and were related. As Mr. William Pritchett was crossing Little Oemulgee bridge, near Lumber City, with a drove of mules, the middle pier of the bridge gave way, precipitating the mules, together with a negro bov, who was assisting, to the bunks and water below. The bridge sustained the principal dam age, as the negro and stock were rescued without any further hurt than a few slight bruises and scratches on some of the inuleB. Alabama. Mr. Wm. Crawford, of Montgomery, and Miss Fannie Patterson, of Mobile, were married in Mobile Wednesday last at Bt. Joseph church. The fall is to be crowded with fairs. The state fair will come off at Montgomery, while Eufaula, Unioutown, Orrville, Ma rion, Huntsville and Eutaw will have their customary county fairs. A convention of the Alabama State Tem perance Alliance is called to meet in the city of Montgomery on Tuesday, Novem ber 16, ISSfi, at 11 o'clock a. m., to take such steps as shall be deemed necessary to secure legal prohibition of liquor traffic in Alabama. The Birmingham Age says : It is rumor ed that at au early date Mr. Jno, Boddie will erect on his §1900-a-front-foot lot, on the corner of First avenue and Twentieth street, a handsome four-story building to cost *40,000. Mr. Boddie says that lie can erect a building to cost the amount above and then make 15 per cent, on his $90,000 investment in rents. Harris Freeman, who killed Ben Hayes near Snowdoun a few weeks ago, is now safe within the walls of Montgomery county jail. The killing was a very shock ing affair. Harris caught Ben in improper relations with his wife. He broke the door of the cabin down and attacked Ben, cutting him in seven different places and literally carving him to death. So far no clue has been obtained as to who stole the mail bags off the incoming South and North train near the union depot in Montgomery one week ago Satur day night. Post Office Inspector William son, of Tuskaloosa, has Been in Mont gomery several days making an investiga tion o^ the matter, but nothing has been developed leading to the identification of the guilty person or persons. Florida. The orange crop in Levy county will be nearly up to the average, and the fruit much finer than usual. A fine of $1000 was imosed upon the barkentine Geneva at Apalachicola a few days since for violating quarantine laws. A company is being formed in Kentucky for the purpose of erecting a fine hotel for Northern Lake Weir near the new Hood Female College. The wages paid out on the Lykes build ing at Tampa amount to nearly r-1000 a week. Two weeks from now the mam portion of the work will be completed. At Lakeland, Wednesday, July Maxwell was shot and killed by Tom Nelson, both colored. Nelson got into a swamp, but was captured and is in jail there, strongly guarded, as the negroes, are threatening to mob him. The authorities are equal to tile emergency. On Saturday last when Edward Bauble, bricklayer on the opera house building at Tavares, had finished his day s work, he made the startling discovery that some body had rifled the pockets of his pants which he had hung up when lie donned his working clothes. His poeketbook con tained *105.85 and a time order for about *20. A colored man who left for Orlando last night was suspected as the thiei and arrested on bis arrival there, but as no money was found on his person he was discharged. Dr. Ramon Montiresi, of Tampa, was robbed of a package of currency and coin, containing in ail about $280, last Monuaj night on board the Margaret. He had been given by various parties sums of money to take to Key West. \\ tide pur chasing his ticket he handed the package to his nephew, Jose Pita, and upon going on board he laid this with other packages on a seat while he went forward to speak to his nephew, who had gone to the bow of the boat. Upon returning he found the monev gone, and also the crowd that had been around him when he first came m, so that no clue could lie had. Marion Williams returned to Ocala from Tampa last Friday, whither he had gone for Beauregard Cummings, colored, wno was arrested a year ago as an accomplice in killing a colored woman and two cnii- dren. and then burning the building, be longing to Mr. Mathews, near Citra. the muriHrers were arrested, but taken from tue guards by an infuriated populace and one was lynched. Cummings, though handcuffed, seeing the fate in store for him, made a break for liberty, which lie temporarily gained, but a short time since was tracked to Tampa and arrested. Ho is now safely in jail awaiting his indict ment trial. * The Time to ltreak the Booord.
