A probably fatal cutting affray occurred
Tuesday last near Houston, about ten miles
from LaGrango. It seems that Benjamin
H. Brown, a merchant living in the coun

named Hopson. The difficulty was over a
load of corn. Brown called Hopson a liar
and struck him in the face, whereupon
Hopson drew a knife and
cut Brown twice, inflicting two
wounds, either of which might be fatal.
One of the wounds was in the Brest in the
region of the heart, and the other was in
the right side near the stomach. After in
flicting the wounds Hopson escaped.
